bending and stretching-how much how soon?

Hi everyone!
I am now 15 days post op and was wondering when can I bend and reach as I did before surgery?
How far into your recovery did you feel you could actually bend over and get that pan that is on the lowest shelf in the cupboard?
Or bend over to pet the cat, not just a head rub, but a regular full length pet?
I can't even imagine trying to tie my shoes, I still have trouble getting my legs into clothing!
I am so afraid that I am going to pull something that I don't know if I am over babying myself or not.

Well, to tell the truth I had to bend sideways in the hospital to pick up my call button that kept sliding off the bed! I had a TAH/BSO. I didn't have alot of pain. I was probably bending by the end of week two. I had a friend tell me she couldn't sit up for two weeks so everyone is different. My doctor always told me that I would know when I ready to progress to the next level of activity.. your body will tell you.

I just think that you mainly have to feel that out for yourself. All I can say is that I personally made the mistake of doing things like that too soon & it was a pretty big set-back. I'd hate to hear of that happening to anyone else. If you're not sure based on how you feel, call your doctor, tell him/her how you are doing and ask. Good luck!

I've overdone it as well. Trust me, baby yourself if you have to. Considering what your body has been through, this soon after surgery, you can't over baby. I've already pulled stitches and had to have a silver nitrate application. Then when I thought I was "better", I did it again. I go back to the doc on Tuesday and I'm sure I'll get a lecture on overdoing it.

Take care of yourself at all costs.
