Re: Pajamas
I took 2 little nighties as after op. in England, you are expected to bring your own. They were ideal.

Re: Pajamas
Wobblebottom hello
how about (1) vaseline for your lips or chapstick as you may prefer this. Vaseline works for me, it helps moisturize my lips; (2) face moisturizer; (3) a few q-tips to clean ears

Re: Pajamas
One comment on Vaseline or other petroleum-based lip balms: under oxygen they can burn and one is very likely to get an O2 mask during surgery. Check your ingredients carefully, especially if they tout being "natural" (petro is natural!).
No, it's not a myth. My sources include "Flight Safety Australia, July 1998, page 20," AOPA's "Oxygen Use in Aviation" http://www.aopa.org/members/files/to...xygen_use.html (must be a member) and more. While the hospital room is hopefully not pressurized, avoid mixing petroleum and oxygen!

Wow, thank you for sharing that info, chocolate4cure; had no idea about vaseline in a pressurized room.
What I meant was to use the Vaseline petroleum jelly after the surgery in the "patient's room." I don't think the rooms are pressurized as the petroleum jelly was one of the items in my gift toiletries given by the hospital. I just brought my own as I am accustomed to using my brand.

Re: Pajamas
I ended up taking some cotton pajama pants and a t-shirt. They unhooked my IV so I could get them on. I felt much better in my own pajamas.

Re: Pajamas
My op is tomorrow, and I'm just about to pack my bag and drink my wonderful foul bowel cocktail - thanks for all the tips! I'm glad I checked in first with all of you. I had the same idea about the pj's, but thought I would take a gown & pj pants set just in case. I like to be prepared and I love having my own things around, if just for peace of mind comfort. Maybe I won't use any of it, but there it is! Cheers to everyone! )
