Re: Odd Question...

I would guess they know by your pain level & how you are feeling. That would just be my guess. Since they can not see in there & you can not really bleed to the outside I would think they go on how you feel.

Re: Odd Question...

ask your doc if you have any internal stitches. i did not -- stuff was cauterized during the process. only had some stitches for my incision site, and for the vaginal cuff. doc assessed healing at 2 weeks based on talking with me (no internal) and at nearly 6 weeks with a gentle internal exam using a small speculum. i had slight infection (she said she could see inflammation, plus i had suspect discharge) and following treatment for that, i had another internal exam at 8 weeks -- no speculum for that, she just felt things and declared everything fine. that exam was not painful for me, thank goodness, so that gave me some confidence that the cuff really was holding up and healing, despite the fact i never saw any stitches work their way out.

nowadays i'm generally feeling fine. think it's just over three months post op; i can tell if i do a lot in a day, but not any kind of feeling that would slow me down.

hope this helps!

Re: Odd Question...

They don't really, they just assume based on how you are feeling, your BP, your cuff and incision. In general, their assumption is correct.

I pulled a stitch and I did essentially bleed to the outside in a way. There were bright red blotches that came up to skin level, kind of like a bruise but with fresh blood.

Re: Odd Question...

7weeks robotic post op here and every now and again I feel little almost electric shocks in my abdomen..they last only a split second and go away and come back sparatically. I asked my dr at my 6week check and she said that it is the internal stitches disintagrating.
