Re: new here....4 weeks post op
Welcome. How are you feeling. I had my TAH on aug 30th. I am just starting to feel better the last few days. Today I did some light things and made a pot of soup. I still get very tired but I am finally noticing some improvement My.biggest fear is the internal stitches and Healing. It's hard when you feel good to stop yourself from doing what you always did. I did notice pain after my light chores today so I stayed down the rest of the day

Re: new here....4 weeks post op
I still get tired as well. Been doing a lot today and am starting to feel it now. I am worried about the internal stitches as well. I've been trying to take it easy but with 2 kids and a husband sometimes it seems impossible. A lot of people think I should be good enough to return to wk but I don't feel like I'm ready yet. It is soo nice to talk to people who've been through this as well.

Re: new here....4 weeks post op
I am a legal asst and my dr said no work for 6 weeks. I have gone in to the office for a few hours in the last two weeks but that was all I could handle My focus is not good either. I have people saying I am doing too much. I have people saying I need to do more. Get back to reality. I decided last week that I will listen to the dr and my body I want to heal with no setbacks or problems

Re: new here....4 weeks post op
I'm trying to just listen to my body. I'm an assist mgr at a retail store and my job wants me back like now but I know I'm not ready. I don't want to cause more complications. I think I tried to rush it too much and now I really feel achy and tired. My husband told me tonight to just slow down and rest. He's picked up some extra hours at wk so I don't feel the need to rush myself back to wk. Now I hope my boss wil be understanding!

Yes I agree with you don't rush it. It's tiring and hard to focus. You have a few more weeks use it and rest if you go back too soon you could have a set back. I am only a week behind but not ready to go back I told them I will just stop in a few hours a week to check mail And stuff

Re: new here....4 weeks post op
So glad you found us!!
While you are here you may want to check out the recovery thread for your surgery week located here - Recovery week Aug 20-26. It was invaluable to me to post with my same week sisters as it let me know that I was not alone in my recovery and I got to hear everyone's story right along with mine. It settled my mind and kept me from calling my doctor.

Re: new here....4 weeks post op
Hi teacup and welcome. You are doing right by listening to your body. It will surely let you know if you've done too much. If your husband is saying slow down and rest, I'd take him up on it
Don't let the people at work talk you into coming back before your ready. Retail is brutal and light duty is far and few between or none at all. So don't let them push you.
I had a TAH 6months ago and I'm so happy that I finally did. You seem to be doing okay. Just rest as much as you can and gradually increase your activities. Keep walking, eating right and drinking plenty of water and be patient with your heeling . Your going to be okay
Lots of ((HUGS)) to you
