vaginal cuff granulation

I went to post op visit yesterday ( 3.5 weeks) and Dr said he will see me back in 3 weeks as the vaginal cuff showed some bleeding..bright red tissue and granulation. Should I be concerned? He just said its not healed and we need to keep an eye on it. I wouldn't of known it was bleeding..I only have occasional light pink on toilet paper

Re: vaginal cuff granulation

I also had granulation, I guess its pretty common. My doctor applied silver nitrate and I was fine when he checked again in 2 weeks. I am sure it will be fine.

Re: vaginal cuff granulation

I don't really know..as I understand it..its scar tissue forming that doesn't allow cuff to heal properly??

Re: vaginal cuff granulation

granulation is fresh tissue...still healing, but not totally hea.
led. The tissue looks sugary or grainy and pink. Like when you have a cut and you see it's still pink and sore in the middle before healed

I still had granulation on vag cuff at my 6 weeks, and the dr. opted not to use silver nitrate at that time..wanted to wait. I don't go back for another couple of weeks. From what I've heard on this forum and read elsewhere, it's a normal healing process.

Hugs.

Re: vaginal cuff granulation

At my 1 and only follow up yesterday (at 5 weeks, 2 days,), she said I had a tiny spot of granulation, which she explained to be scar tissue (she said it looks like a tiny scab) that had grown over one of the stitches. All looked like it was healing great though. She just removed it with a swab (didn't bleed or anything) and put a tiny bit of silver nitrate on it just to be sure. Said I was good to go....no more follow ups even. She also said they see it in about 1-10 women. But...as always, everyone is different. Wishing you well!
