Yeah, my medical report read about the same, like, and I'm paraphrasing here, "knocked her out, made an incision, got uterus out, cut everything connected to it off, looks good, sewed her up." I swear, that's how it reads.

Wow, all they sent me was a letter to say you are ok, no cancer. I need to contact them so I can know all of this. I do know my lining before surgery was over the norm by "3 weeks" that is what the doc told me. Right ovary was "engulfed" by a cyst, and the biggest fibroid was measured the size of a baseball by sono. And after surgery she told me the left ovary was so covered with endo and scar tissue that it could not be saved. Wish I knew what the actual report said for after surgery. I know I did not really lose a whole bunch of weight so to speak but I dropped almost two pant sizes. I was told this is because of the body re-arranging. I saw the pics, reminds of me when my sister had her gall bladder out. Loved them.

Well, it's interesting to see all the different descriptions of uterus size - my path report says 16.5 x 14 x 11.4 cm, 571 grams (I was hoping to lise more weight, too). I was bored with fruit and pregnancy metaphors, so I've been telling people it was prairie-dog sized. Only now I've looked up prairie dogs (we only have ground squirrels in Alaska) and I'll have to amend that to adolescent prairie dog sized.

Some of yours were as big as adults though - so I was lucky!

Got my reports today. You are right have no idea on what is being said in some of it. but when you said spli like os mine says centrally located cervical os. And it also says grossly unremarkable(huh) the uterus though was symmetrical in shape and slightly enlarged in size. It weighed 167.8 grams and measured 12x7x4 cm. anyone know what nabothian cysts are?? these cysts were up to 0.7 cm ingreatest dimension. my myometrium was 3.2 cm and endometrial lining 0.4 cm.
I hope others dont have a hard time reading through theres or get some help. Dr. report just like some other incision, cut everything, sewed back up, goodbye!!!
Not healed all the way yet NO SEX for another week!!!! It has already been 7 weeks. Dh will not be looking forward to hearing this. Bless and be well

how big was your uterus? and what's the normal size for one?

I got my path report on Monday. It weighed 460 grams and measured 12.5 X 6.3 X 6.2.
It also mentioned that I had nabothian cysts (they were seen on the transvag ultrasound), chronic endometritis, and adenomyosis.
I found it strange that it didn't specifically mention the 3 pendunculated fibroids that were hanging off the side. Yet it did mention all the multiple subserosals, transmurals and submucosals.
Wondering if the pathology dept took photos of the interior while doing the exam. I'll have to ask.

For those who asked, the os is the cervical opening. When you are in labor, it is the opening that must get to 10 cm to deliver!

Hope that helps.

Mine was 1238 gms and the size of a basketball. My 2 largest fibroids were the size of cantelopes. I also have interesting pictures-as I sent a disposable camera in to the OR.

My Dr. said that if he had thrown my uterus at someone, it would have hurt them

Glad its out and glad its OVER !!!!!!

I have not taken the time yet to get copies of medical reports. My surgeon says I currently the hold the record for the biggest uterus and fibroids he's ever dealt with... at 6 lbs. ... he says was the size of a basketball. After he said that, I forgot what else he said about it! Just glad it's gone!!

(And it was even bigger before UAE a year ago.)

how big was your uterus? and what's the normal size for one?

I've been reading the posts here and I'm just amazed at all the pain and suffering women put up with these huge uteruses and fibroids!
My uterus was "like a bag full of rocks", my DR explained . . .and the biggest was 10 cm.

I just hope and pray this thread helps women who are on the fence about having their surgery. Hopefully they will see that their quality of life will be soooooooooo much better!

Thanks sisters! Makes me appreciate how I made the the right decision to have my surgery! I am thrilled being pain free!
