Possible blood clot

Freaking out a little. I had a TAH on 9/21, kept my ovaries. So far my healing has been pretty good. One problem is leg pain. Every night my leg hurts so bad. It's a wierd feeling, achy, like flu symptoms. I mentioned it to my dr thinking it's nothing, and was surprised that she wants me to have a "dopplar" (not even sure what that is) to see if there is a blood clot. So I am waiting on a call back to schedule the dopplar (I am assuming it's like an ultrasound?) and very scared. Anyone else have this? I am generally not one to panic about something until there is something to panic about, but not crazy about the words blood clot. I am 40 years old with two small children. I can't imagine something terrible happening.

Re: Possible blood clot

I had no clue about the seriousness of the possiblity of blood clots after surgery until becoming a regular to the site.
I can't offer many suggestions or info except to be thankful that you have a doctor that takes you seriously and won't let issues pass without checking them out, even if it should turn out to be nothing (as we trust it is )

Re: Possible blood clot

To start with, Dopplar is kinda sorta like a sonogram, except instead of getting a pic of the target, they hear it. They listen to the blood flow, & see if there is a place where it quits. I got to see that done, & it's pretty cool.

If there is a clot, they can usually take care of it with medicine. They just need to know for sure to keep it from causing other issues. If it is, you need to make sure that if you have more surgeries for anything down the road that you tell the Dr's. My Grandmother had clots after having surgery, but since the Dr's knew it, they could prevent them.

Re: Possible blood clot

Tyr to calm down, it may be nothing. If it is a blood clot, it is good that you called your doctor. I had pain ( thinking blood clot) in my inside left thigh from the removal of tape holding the catheter outside drainage tube in place. The doctor me, it was normal. It went away in by the 4th week. Did you any meds for blood clot prevention? Good luck and keep us posted.

Re: Possible blood clot

Did the Dr tell you to keep your leg elevated in case it is a blood clot. That is what my sister's father in law had to do when he had one. Glad you will be tested in the morning to find out if you have one or not.

Re: Possible blood clot

Back from doc. No blood clots. Pain in legs in from back. Shot, muscle relaxers, and rest and heating pad. I am relived, and resting now. Thanks for all the support. This website really is a god send. Hugs to everyone!
