Almost 3 weeks post hysterectomy

Tomorrow will be exactly 3 weeks after my surgery. Thankfully I haven't had any complications I feel that up until 3 or 4 days ago the difference I felt everyday since the surgery was very significant, but I feel like I hit a plateau. I'm also feeling frustrated and anxious. I feel somewhat normal, but am afraid to over do it. I'm also wondering if there will ever be a day that this change in my body will be a thing of the past, and will the day ever come that I will be able to do whatever I feel up to doing physically without worrying that I might cause a problem to my health. Is anyone else worried that our lives will not return completely to "our" normal? My job is very physical, and I worry that I will not be able to get it done on my own anymore. I am very independent and prefer to do things myself, rather than wait for someone else to do it. I am single, and I might've lost the interest of meeting someone in the future, because now I worry about intimacy. Is it going to hurt, is it going to feel the way it used to feel, will my partner notice a difference in how it feels? Just wondering if I'm the only one feeling this way...

Re: Almost 3 weeks post op

I too feel the same way. I was very active and busy with three kids and a house to manage an just dont have the energy or stamina like I use too> everyday I feel a little less sore but I sometimes over do and I pay for it. I am married and worry about sex with my husband too When I had my internal done at the doctors last week i got myself in such a panic attack that it took the Dr. 15 min for him calm me down before he could exam me. It didn't hurt at all like I was expecting. I just know we need to take a day at a time and these things will pass and I know in time my body will be back to itself . So will yours you just need time to heel. And know your not alone in this!!! sending lots of hugs!!!

Re: Almost 3 weeks post hysterectomy

I also feel this way and worry that I will never get back to the way I was. My job is very physical also, I work with young children and a lot of lifting is involved. I am 6 weeks post op and still feel sore but it IS getting better. I also had a complication so I think it's taking me longer to heal. I start back to work on December 1st and I'm nervous.

Hubby and I have had sex twice and I'm please to report everything went well. The first time I was super scared and tensed up so much. The second time I was a bit more relaxed and used lots of lube. That helps a lot Hubby said everything felt the same, so that was a huge relief for me. I was also able to orgasm a lot faster and it felt just as good.

I too am taking it 1 day at a time and I know there will be a day for all of us when the surgery will be a thing of the past and a distant memory.
