Upcoming hysterectomy 10/2: anyone else who started bleeding after finishing treatment with Esmya?

I finished a 3 month treatment w Esmya about 3 weeks ago. I have a 13*11 cm uterus fibroid. The treatment had no effect on my fibroid and Im now waiting for my hysteroktomi Oct 2nd. I had really bad side effects from the tablets such as nausea, headaches, extreme tiredness and very bad mood swings with explosive temper. Not nice at all and was quite bummed out that it had had no effect other than a break from the menstruation, which was nice. I feel the doctors know very little about the tablets and effects on the body. Anyone else experienced that? Since ending the treatment I have been extremely bloated and been bleeding for almost 3 weeks now. The gyno has prescribed something to stop the bleeding, but Im insecure about taking any more stuff with hormons or what ever it is, but I cant be bleedibg for another 3 weeks tilll surgery. Does anyone have experiences w this? Im not in pain as such and the bleeding isnt heavy, but the stomach is soar and I look like Im pregnant. I have had big problems w anemia over the last years because of heavy periods. Im 44 and dreading surgery. Iv had 2 sections, so I kind I know whats ahead.

I am so sorry you are going through all of this. I wish I could answer your questions, but I do not have any experience with any of these medications. Talk to your doctor about your concerns with the hormones and medications prescribed. She should be able to tell you if there are any issues. You do not want to keep bleeding. That is not good either.

We have many women on this site. Hopefully one with experience with these will see this post and respond.

Is Esmya a progestin type hormonal treatment? My doctor put me on Aygestin 5mg when he scheduled me for my total hysterectomy on 9/29. He wanted to stop my bleeding and build up my iron.

I started taking it once a day 10 days ago and am supposed to take it until surgery. He DID mention that if I forget to take it, I could start bleeding heavily. If I have anything more than light spotting, to call.

I would definitely call your doctor, especially since you have several weeks till your surgery.

I've got no experience of Esyma, but I am currently on Norethisterone until my surgery otherwise I just keep bleeding extremely heavily and it doesn't stop at all.

I think esmya is fibristal by another name. And yes, I had the worst cycle of my life after finishing fibristal. I was bloated and swollen and bled for 5 weeks (heavily with clotting) and became anemic before being advised to go back on fibristal. Now I'm waiting for surgery.
