Have a date & scared to death!

Have a date now, June 23, for TAH with oophrectomy....trying to save 1 ovary (1 has tennis ball sized cyst other is only the size of a golfball). It has really just hit me what I am doing and now I'm soooooo nervous I can barely breathe! Any suggestions?

Have a date & scared to death!

I think that the thing that most women say is that the waiting is the worst part. We fear the unknown. Usually what we imagine in our minds is much worse than the actual surgery or recovery. You definitely are not the first to feel this way and there are many here who are going through it with you. One thing I learned from my surgery and recovery is that I am capable of much more than I thought I was. I used to think of myself as a wimp, but now I know better.

Have a date & scared to death!

I am scheduled for the same surgery on June 20th(Ive got my own golf balls and tennis balls). I am not sure what your life situation is, but any surgery can be very scary. I have found that Information is my best tool. Research, ask questions and don't be afraid to share your fears.
If you have a good support team at home, use them. I have occupied my time with getting the house and things at work taken care of. My sister is throwing a small shower for me before the surgery, so it helps to put a little silver lining on things.
Good luck and let us know how things are going.

Have a date & scared to death!

Good luck with surgery. Mine was April 21 and I have never had any surgery. I was surprisingly very calm after reading the hyster sisters book I knew exactly what to expect. It really was not as bad as my mind said it was. I had TAH, bladder tack, hernia repair and a nodule removed from intestines. I thought I might die the first time they said lets get up the next day, but it really wasn't near as bad, by day 3 I walked the hall several times a day.. Good Luck it really will be OK
