Sort of an embarrassing question

I have never had to use...ahem, lubrication. I feel so dumb, but I have no idea how to use it. I'm not sure if we will need it as I am only 3 1/2 weeks post op and can't be intimate until 8 to 10. But, if we do need it, what do I do with it? Do I put in on him or me or what? Sorry for the embarrassing question.

You can put it on both of you! Have fun, use it as part of foreplay!

Re: Sort of an embarrassing question

Dont be embarassed (sorry sp). The answer is yes, and yes. You can use it before and during. I would start with just a regular KY (must be water soluble, not anything like a vasaline). There are other types of KY also, His and Hers, Intense, etc. these are very nice and give a different sensation when they react together. I have been given the ok now for a couple of weeks now, but I will probably wait a couple more weeks before I go back to the specialty lubricants. Good luck and dont stress. oh, and sometimes they are nice even if you dont think you need them, just gives a different sensation....relax, have fun, and play around with them.

Also different brands well, differ. Astroglide is a popular one. I think unscented is a plus and more natural. My advice is get a small container and see how you like it. They range from gloppy and a scent, to more natural or specialty, and its all a matter of preference. Some also last better during use. It can go on either or both of you and they can be a real plus. Give it a try, at least to start.

Re: Sort of an embarrassing question

Honey, don't be embarassed... its just us girls here :-)

Everyone above had great suggestions, so I might just be a little redundant...

We use KY - have for years - for those days when I need a little bit extra. Definitely stay away from the stuff that heats up when you touch it until you know how you react. I can't stand the stuff that heats up... feels like it is burning me.

Not sure how much detail you want... so I'll tell you what we do... first of all, KY and most other lubs will go on you COLD... so be prepared. He pours just a small amount on his finger - from like knuckle to tip.. he tries to hold it there and get it to warm up a little - but it doesn't work :-). THen he rubs it gently against me. Then, if I really need it, he does the same thing to himself. No problems after that (most of the time)

But keep kleenex nearby to wipe up sticky fingers...and you might even want to find some old towels and put under you the first few times until you get the hang of it so you aren't getting the bed wet/sticky if he misses.

Most important thing... HAVE FUN!!!! :-)

Re: Sort of an embarrassing question

We used KY something or other when we have needed help in that area, or maybe it was atstroglide...anyway....we just made it part of the whole experience.....Since I know better than dh if i need it or not, I would usually put it on him, then a little in me...for me, it seemed to kind of kick start things, and my own lube would then take over....

put a towel near by to wipe your fingers on and use a towel underneath you so you wont have to change the sheets! :-)

Thanks for the tip on the sheets thing. Even after 14 yrs of marriage, aim isn't always spot on.
I appreciate the info from the seasoned veterans.
