Hi All!
Can't believe it's all over and really not as bad as I expected! Surgery was Mon. at 7:30 (TAH/BSO, appendectomy, fibroids, ov cyst, extensive endometriosis-suprise), by 4:00 I was totally alert, visiting with family and watched TV till midnight! Asked for nausea med. to be started during surgery and had epidural in for 2 days. Not one single problem! Dangled feet and stood several times on Tues. Was taken off everything Wed. AM (cath, epidural, IV). Started on percoset & colace, walked halls and showered by Wed. PM. Went home Thurs. noon with Vicoden & Colace. Still no problems, thank goodness.
I'm lucky to have my DH here and mom visiting to help. I don't know how you ladies with children still at home do it! I hope all the L-I-W have as good of outcome as I did!
Thanks for all your support and indispensable information!
Claudia

I am so glad that you are back and doing so well!!!!!!

You know, I had really heard how those with epidurals had such an easier time, and much less painful too. I got the nerve to ask doc, she said fine, talked to "A" group, they said they are ok and open with all kinds of options. But on morning of surg, my "A" man did not talk to me untill minutes before, and by that time I was kinda anxious, and he talked me out of it!!

When I woke up, I was VERY uncomfortable and NOT happy about it. The morphine pump did not really cut it at all, and I kept mumbling grumpily to anyone who was unfortunate enough to be near me those first hours.."I KNEW I wanted my epidural!"

The good news is that by next day, they swithced to oral pain meds and I started doing much better.

So Kudos to you and do not forget to be a good , and take it easy even if you feel good!
