Anyone else with leukemia had hysterectomy?
I had Hodgkin's Disease (cancer of the lymph system, this kind of cancer is in the leukemia family) in 1992, and had a TVH this past May 20th... I did just fine, the only thing they did different was give me intervenious antibiotics right before surgery since I don't have a spleen. I haven't had swelly belly, but during my staging of Hodgkin's Disease they had to do a laparotomy to remove my spleen, appendix, one ovary, and do a liver biopsy and remove some lymph nodes(I have a long fish-line scar down the middle of my stomach and curves around my belly button)... after that surgery I did have swelly belly for a while. It did go away and I was back to good after chemo. Good luck to you!
