Time frame for a bm?
I know there must be an answer for my question within all these threads, but to be perfectly honest I can't sit here long enough to read and find an answer. So...I thought I would post my own thread. I had a TAH with LO removed (kept RO) on Tuesday. Came home late Thursday. I am passing gas but have not had a bm yet. It's 4 days post-op. How long will it take? I'm eating a high fiber diet, have taken stool softeners every day, drinking pepperment tea, walking, (I'm up to 4 laps around the kitchen/living room every few hours)etc...nothings happening yet??? whoa I'm tired...going to go lay down. Thanks for your advice.

Time frame for a bm?
Hey there love to dance, it sounds like you are definitely on the right track. It took me from Monday to Friday morning to have a bm. I got it started by using a suppository, I had a bm about 5-10 minutes after inserting it. Things have been fine since then.

4 days post-op is not uncommon. As long as you're passing gas, you're OK. Keep doing what you're doing. Make sure you drink LOTS of water with the high-fibre & stool softeners!!! LOTS!!!
And, you may want to get glycerine suppositories to help "ease" the big event.
I would think a BM sometime in the next couple days would be pretty accurate

Time frame for a bm?
Have to agree as well. Had my TVH with RSO and repairs on a Tuesday and had to get a little "help" to have a BM on Saturday. I felt so uncomfortable and bloated that I needed the relief. I did a senna laxative and it was a bit crampy but fine; better than I was worried about. I did go and buy the glycerin suppositories however, and have only had to use one so far. They do work quickly (feel a little weird going in...TMI) and no pain or pressure. Keep taking the stool softeners. They won't make you go but you will be glad you took them when you finally do. If you are feeling too full, I highly recommend the glycerin supp. Good luck.

Time frame for a bm?
My doc said she wants me walking up to 15-20 minutes as well as Colace softeners and the H2O. Maybe trying walking a little more but might want to ck with your doc. Not stairs just flat surfaces.
Good Luck

Time frame for a bm?
I just had my 1st bm today. I called my dr and told her how I had thrown up this morning and had pressure like I needed to have a bm. She said I should have had one so she told me to take some milk of mag. It worked in about half an hour I had a small bm. Did not hurt at hall. Give it time

Time frame for a bm?
It took me about 4 to 5 days for my first BM and that was with the help of Magnesium Citrate. I have yet to have a real normal bm yet though ... seems I need the help .. but I haven't been eating like I should lately ... after the surgery, food is tasting nasty so I'm not eating like I should which slows down my bm's.
But I would definitely drink some of the Milk of Mag. nothing wrong in taking that to get things started! Good Luck! I guarantee you, you will feel TONS better once you have one! It was like night and day for me!

Time frame for a bm?
I had my surgery on Monday. They told me that it would not be uncommon for me to not have a BM unitl Friday or Saturday. It didn't take that long for me. I have been taking Colace every evening. My first BM was on Wednesday - no problems.

Time frame for a bm?
Hi,
It took me approximately 4 days for the first bm. I used stool softeners and had to use a suppository. I am 9 weeks p.op. and still have gas & difficulty. I have right sided pain frequently, ? adhesions. I am now very active, drink H2O, mint tea, take stool softeners daily and prune juice with ginger ale as well as occasionally gas X. I had tah, ovaries removed & full stage inspection for CA (neg).
