Hair Loss - 3 months post-op

I recently noticed a huge bald spot about 3 weeks ago. I thought maybe it was due to stress of the surgery and what my body went through. This weekend, 2 more spots were found. I kept one ovary and only 33 years old. Has anyone else experienced this? Needless to say, I have a call into my dr. this morning!!

My hair is thinning.. No bald spots yet. but, I started using Nioxin. It seems to be helping. Also, I was JUST reading about Murad Shampoo. I might give that a shot, I hate the way Nioxin smells.

I am 9 weeks post op, I have long hair, but I am losing a lot of hair everyday, I keep waiting for it to stop. Two months before the surgery my hair dresser found a bald spot, about the size of a quarter, just before surgery she said it had started to grow some hair, but it is still a noticeable bald spot. How long will this shedding continue?

well i made an appt with my gyno for next tuesday. the bald spot i noticed a few weeks ago has gotten bigger and there is no sign of any hair growing back. i really don't want to go on hormone replacement beucase if that is the case, then i shouldn't have kept my one ovary to help with that. I think me stressing over it is probably causing it to come out even more. but i don't think it's thining out all over, it's just coming out in patches!! i'm thankful for the surgery and it's helped my pain BUT i didn't want to lose my hair in the process...between not having a uterus and this, i really don't feel like a woman!! just frustrated...thankfully you can't see them though.

Hey ladies,
Do any of you have PCOS? If so that is one of the side effects of that, if you are un sure ask your Dr. to do a blood test to comfirm, I was diagnoised just recently w/ it and I have always had very thick curly hair, and while there are no bald spots, it is thinning. BTW I was told that removel of ovaries dose not cure PCOS, it is in the blood stream, I will start meds for this as soon as I recover fully form both surgeries.
My prayers and big to you all

I was not diagnosed with pcos. I think this is a hormone issue. I was not able to keep ovaries. I was hoping anesthesia was the cause for hair loss and that it will stop eventually.

I am 4 months post op. Total Ab Hys, kept ovaries. I just noticed I was losing my hair. I've gained 28 pounds in 4 months. Partly due to a few injections of Celestone (anti-inflammatory for my chronic allergy/sinus problem) and partly due to hormonal changes...(and Halloween candy).

I have PCOS. When I gain weight my ovaries get large and full of cysts. It throws you into Insulin Resistance. Everything you put in your mouth turns to fat. Catch22. Gaining weight causes symptoms to get worse. Lose weight, symptoms get better. VERY difficult to lose weight once the PCOS flares up. ...and you lose your hair.

PCOS is an endocrine disorder. You can still have the symptoms even if they are removed.

The benefits of keeping healthy ovaries for hormones outweighed the PCOS....when symptoms are in check the ovaries are normal.

Well, my one ovary doesn't give me problems. It was always my left one that was enlarged and he took it out for that reason. I want them to run blood test for numerous things before being put on any medication. I just don't want to wake up one morning and be bald!!!!
