Laparoscopic Hysterectomy with anterior and posterior repair approaching fast!

Hi, I am new here. I found this website while searching the web for any info I could find on prolapse. I hadn't even heard of it until I started trying to figure out what was happening to me after the birth of my 10lb baby. I seen my gyno and was told I had a uterine prolapse as well as a rectocele and cystocele. I will be having a total laparoscopic hysterectomy as well as posterior and anterior vaginal wall repair. I was shocked! I am a 33 year old woman. Wasn't expecting it to be so serious I guess. I just got the surgery date, February 23rd. I am hoping to find some women who have been through this, I have no clue what to expect with the recovery and what not. I am looking forward to getting this over with, it has been causing me a lot of pain, but I am very nervous about the recovery, and still have mixed feelings about saying good bye to my uterus.
Thanks in advance!

I'm new too and your story is basically mine (down to the same surgery date!) i had a 10 lb baby about 3 years ago and she pulled everything down with her! Only difference is I am 30 and also have endometriosis and adenomyosis (or it s suspected).
I'll be listening in to see what others say.

Re: Hello everyone! New here! Laparoscopic Hysterectomy with anterior and posterior repair approaching fast!

junebug,

Sorry you need to be here but so glad you found this website. I had a laprascopic vaginal hysterectomy with rectocele and enterocele repairs. It was a bit rough the first couple weeks but I felt much better by the end of week 4. I even returned to work by week 5. You will have restrictions on lifting, bending, twisting for a while so repairs can take. I recommend having a peri bottle, ice packs and some soft wipes for recovery. The ice packs will help with swelling in the perineum. Be sure to take stool softeners post op and eat plenty of fiber rich food and drink plenty of water. You are welcome to post on the Pelvic Floor and Bladder Issues forum as well.

Laparoscopic Hysterectomy with anterior and posterior repair approaching fast!

Hello, your surgery is 3 days before mine. I'm having a Total Laproscopic Hysterectomy.

It's definitely tough to know what to expect. It is extremely helpful to read Hints from Members and articles on this website.

Let's hope that someone had the same type of issues and can let you know how their surgery went.

Wishing you all the best and a speedy recovery 😊

I'll be thinking of you Sporkmoostipe!!! I hope everything goes well for you. Have you had your Pre Op yet? I go in on Tuesday for mine, I was on a cancellation list, so I didn't have much notice. Kinda freaking out... Worried about the recovery, the kids, you name it...

Re: Hello everyone! New here! Laparoscopic Hysterectomy with anterior and posterior repair approaching fast!

I had both my preops (it's two surgeons working together, a uro-gyn and a endo specialist.)

Tomorrow I actually have my pre-surgery clearance from my regular doctor.

I may or may not have had a slight freak out over all that needs to be done. My kids are 4 and 3 and both go to pre-k in the morning. So I have been making lists for them for my mother in law who will be helping me along with DH.

I'm getting nervous because I am SO afraid something is going to happen and the surgery is going to get cancelled. I can't imagine adenomyosis for another year, or urinary incontinence!

Re: Hello everyone! New here! Laparoscopic Hysterectomy with anterior and posterior repair approaching fast!

Hello Molly 50!
Thank you for the tips, I really appreciate it I have no clue what to expect. I am just worried about everything right now... I have a 11 month old and 5 year old, my husband is taking time off work, but I'm used to doing pretty much everything. I read the rectocele repair is tuff to recover from. Was it really bad??? I'm looking forward to an end to all of this, been experiencing a lot of pain. Did you have a lot of pain before your surgery? Also I was wondering about sex after? Sorry about all the questions. I'm a bit of a nervous wreck

I have to see my Doctor Tomorrow too to get my papers filled out.
Just try to think positive thoughts, the surgery date is so close, they can't cancel on you It will all be over with soon <3
