How long were you actually in the OR?

It took 3 hours for my LSH/BSO. This was exactly what my dr. predicted... 1 hour to remove adhesions, 1 hour to remove endo, and 1 hour to take out the uterus/ovaries.

However, my surgery was scheduled for 11:30 a.m. (I got there at 10:00), but was not done until 3:00 p.m. due to other surgeries taking longer than expected. Thus, my surgery was not done until 6:00 p.m.!

How long were you actually in the OR?

My LSH was supposed to last 3 hours at the most but ended up taking 4 hours due to the size of a couple of fibroids. The doctor told us later that she almost ended up changing procedures, doing an abdominal. I am so glad that she did not. My DH was really getting worried since most lsh's don't take nearly that long.

correction: just asked DH and he said yes surgery 2.5 hrs, but i was in recovery almost 4 hours. not sure why as there were no complications. maybe since i get panic attacks they were extra careful and went extra slow. it was all okay though, espeially when i got my little button to push for pain meds.

I have panic attacks also. I've had them for years. My surgery wasn't until almost noon and I knew I couldn't go without my meds that long. I was really worried about that. But the drs. told me it was ok if I took all my medications early in the am before surgery. I take Cymbalta and Xanax and Prozac for the anxiety. Then I also take two medications for my blood pressure. I would have never made it to the hospital without taking any type of anxiety medication. I do notice, however, my anxiety was more under control before the surgery than it is now. I had everything taken out except my cervix. It was too fused in there to get it out safely. Also, I'm glad I brought my own meds to the hospital for a few days. Otherwise I would have had to go cold turkey with no Xanax or Prozac. It took that long for the nurses to get the drs. approval so that they could be given to me. I kept telling the nurses that I needed to take them at a certain time, but they never listened. That was the worst part of the surgery for me. I'm just glad I thought to bring them. I didn't want to take any chances. Going cold turkey off Xanax is no fun. I tried to explain this to the nurses, but I still don't think they got it. One nurse told me that the nurses have their own schedule of giving out meds. Seems kind of ridiculous to me, because if a person has to take something at 8am, they shouldn't have to wait hours later to get that medication. That's what happened to me, so my medication schedule was all messed up for a while.

How long were you actually in the OR?

I went in thinking I was getting a LSH and it should have taken about 2 hours and 4 hours later I was out of surgery with a LAVH! After that I was to be in the recovery room for about 2 hours but since they did not have any beds it turned into 5 hours!!! And the last 3 hours of the recovery room nobody came over to see if I was OK, I needed pain meds SOOOO bad! Hopefully everyone else had an easier time then I had.

How long were you actually in the OR?

Hello to all, I'm new to this site..Still realing from it all. I am 7 days post-op. I was in for 2 1/2 hrs, lots of endo and scar tissue. I lost my right overy, my womb and cervix. Would have lost the left one, but I am not a good candidate for HRT. Would welcome some feed back. Thanks

How long were you actually in the OR?

I went in for an LAVH this Apr. My GYN said it would take a/b 2 hrs. The actual surgery time was 4 hrs., 40 min. I was able to keep my left ovary but, everything else was taken out. There were so many adhesions that he said he had an extremely difficult time during surgery. He told me that I was fortunate that I didn't lose part of my bladder & bowel. I'm still recovering from the surgery &, my GYN said it'd probably take me another couple months before I would be 90%.
