I'm pushing doctor toward hysterectomy - endo, cervical dysplasia and mthfr

In the past six months, I found out I have a clotting disorder related to MTHFR mutation. Due to this, I had to cease taking bcp's. (And I cannot have ANY artificial hormones) Since then, my life has returned to the period hell I experienced pre-bcp's. Very heavy bleeding, clotting, bad cramps (down to knees) and terrible PMS. I am also having sharp mid-cycle pain due to a cyst on my right ovary (looks like a chocolate cyst, but second ultrasound is next month to verify).

I've also been having regular paps for the past year for cervical dysplasia. I've had several biopsies along the way. Basically, I feel like we are just waiting for it to turn "bad enough" to need to remove part of the cervix.

My doctor is encouraging a piece-meal solution (remove part of cervix if/when needed, try ablation and see if that offers relief, try lap for endo removal). Instead, I'm pushing toward a hysterectomy. I would rather go through one major procedure now and avoid a slew of other procedures only to wind up in this same spot down the road.

I'm 38 and done with kids.

Am I nuts to want the more drastic route? Keep in mind, no hormones for me - so any alternatives I could try would be diet, lifestyle and surgical.

Thank you so much in advance - I'm very appreciative of this site.

Re: I'm pushing dr toward hyster - endo, cerv dysplasia and mthfr

I am also going to push in the direction of a hysterectomy. I dont want an iud. its a bandaid solution. I had 20 years of bandaids (here, have another narcotic) for migraines until one dr finally said enough is enough..... I want that with the 20plus bad days I have a month from an organ I dont use anymore (tubes tied).

I have fibroids, thick lining, like you said pain down to my knees with cramps...... I am a mess more days than not.

I have a mutation of the same type for blood clotting. My doc prescribed me a baby aspirin everyday and folate. You may want to talk to your doc about this. He said it works really well to bring me down to a normal risk. But, I too am in the same boat on hormones.

I tried the IUD, progesterone only bc, ablation, removal of polyp, endo lasered, blah blah blah blah. Hysterectomy is in 2 weeks. I suffer like you ladies do, pain daily, sometimes I can barely move. I'm over this stuff too!

I feel 100% better after having my hysterectomy and know the same pain I had as you ladies is gone for good! Trust me you will feel really well afterwards!
