Nervous about life after hysterectomy (adenomyosis patient)

I have adenomyosis, but they diagnosed it thru laproscopy surgery, otherwise it is very hard. I am scheduled for surgery Oct 31st and while I know it is a good idea for me, am not sure that I won't cancel it. Very nervous about life after hysterectomy.

I also had adenomyosis, but mine wasn't found until my LSH was being preformed. For me personally, life after my LSH has been wonderful!! I feel better than I have in YEARS!!! For me I have been pain free since surgery (which I had forgotten what that was like since before ever starting my cycle as a young teen) and now I have a more satisfying intimate life with my dh. Oh, and I have already forgotten what having a period is like (it's only been 4 months!) and it has been glorious!!!

I wish you the best of luck in your decision. I am always happy to talk with another sister!

Thot I'd share.... I questioned my decision rite up to the Good Night Gracie part before surgery. It made me feel I had a hand in the decision to loose my uterus.

I'm 5 days post op, I'm a little sore and if I drink any more water, I'll grow gills!!!But I'm very glad that I went through with it. I had a very hard time with the emotional finality of a hyst. I cried and screamed and spent a lot of time here venting to the Sisters.

I am now going to be a healthier, better version of the me that walked into the Hospital last Friday morning. The recovery isn't very bad and my DH says I'm sexier than ever

Blessings to you and may you find peace in your decision........QUICK RECOVERY!!!!

Nervous about life after hysterectomy (adenomyosis patient)

It was easy for me since I was in so much pain. I just kept WAITING until I had no choice. I had abdominal surgery, I cannot take pain meds and I did make it. It was a hard few weeks with no meds for pain, but I am SO glad I did it.

I am 4 1/2 months post op. My doctor put a Climera patch on me right away and I have done just great! I am so glad I had it done.

Everyone has to decide when and if to do it, but I am very happy.

its very normal to worry about a hysterectomy having a negative affect on your life. its definitely not without risks but i can tell you that my life is so much better since mine. i feel fantastic. i think the best thing you can do is research all the different types, ask your dr a lot of questions, dont remove anything you dont want to and thoroughly look into the less invasive type of surgeries. i had the lsh (kept my cervix and ovaries) and the only way my life has changes is that i dont get a period. good luck!

fear is normal

I had my TAH one week ago. I went to the Dr. today to get my staples out and he told me the path report showed that I had adenomyosis. Now that I am home and doing some research, the report was right on the money. As for the fear, I almost canceled my surg. so many times. On days when I would feel better I would go off of my pain meds to see if my body healed its self or if it was the drugs. It was always the drugs. It is so normal to be scared. This is a BIG deal. But I can say, though I have obviously had quite a bit of pain from surg., I don't have the stabbing pelvic pains. And...boy did it feel good giving my entire stock of pads/tampons to my sister! Good luck and God Bless,

Kristi

Nervous about life after hysterectomy (adenomyosis patient)

six months out and no regrets. I am doing very well and the problems and fears of my periods are becoming a distant memory. I no longer worry about "accidents" and having to run for the nearest bathroom. I worried that I was making a bad decision. I mean just cause I bled so much that I couldn't be too far from a bathroom shouldn't be that big a deal. But it turns out my uterus was 3 times it's normal size due to non-cancerous fibroids. It was time to get my life back. Again no regrets.
