Do I need a belly binder for a LSH?

Hi ladies. I am reading about this belly binder and the comments many are making regarding either heat or ice for post surgical comfort. Is this necessary if I am having a TSH as well? My surgeon makes it sound like I wont need much for comfort after except rest but I would rather be prepared, especially for comfortable sleep as I am a side sleeper and dont sleep well to begin with! Thanks!

I wear mine every day, all day, even at night. I have the ice pack in most of the time, and even bought an extra one. I had DaVinci, which is relatively non-invasive, so I recommend it to anyone, no matter what kind of hysterectomy they are having.

It is really a personal choice. I had a TAH BSO and did okay without it. I am also a side sleeper.

My TSH was 12 days ago and my binder has been my Best Friend. I am a side sleeper and I noticed that the nights that I have the binder on I am able to sleep through the night. I have used both ice and heat ( ice the first 4 days, heat since) Also,... I have to admit tha my lower back was a bit achy 2 days ago and I turned the binder around and had the heat pack on my back. It was great since I didn't have to go upstairs to get the heating pad.
