Can anyone relate, give pointers (kids mentioned)
Hi all! I have what feels like a complicated case (to me). I am 33 years old and have been struggling with endometrioma's of the abdominal wall since my c-section in 2007. I have had two previous operations (one 4 inch incision one 8.5) trying to get these little boogers out of me but new ones just keep popping up. The new location is my rectus abdominal muscle with mri revealing a 2.5cm x 60mm x 2cm mass (I have no idea why mm is used for one spot and cm in the other and the dr is confirming this is correct).
I have had 3 opinions total. All recommending BSO and hysterectomy (abdominal incision I'm not sure abv for this). I will have to have the mass removed from the muscle and then a clear margin cut away. I probably will not have a date until right before the surgery b/c there will be two surgeons. I've met with one today and should meet with another one next week then coordinate their schedules. Today I was told within two weeks the surgery will take place.
I am freaked out about a lot of things. A few of those are:
1. what will recovery be like when you have had a chunk of your muscle removed? This will be my 6th abdominal surgery all requiring large incisions. One a bowel resection. In short I have had muscle cut apart and sewed back together and I know it hurts. I'm just not sure how much worse it may be since they will be removing it then trying to repair it. I have tried googling but must not be searching the right words!!
2. Has anyone had trouble with blood clots (superficial veins of the legs only) and been able to use an HRT patch and it avoid the clots by bypassing the liver, as well as, being a lower amount than is in bcp? This is the plan as they have put me on bcp 4 times trying to treat the pain from the endometrioma's (which helped btw), however, all four times I have developed blood clots in my legs. So the plan is to do what is mentioned above. I'm nervous about what this will mean for me if I develop clots with that too.
3. Dr said today he was going to have them do an epidural so when I woke up from surgery there would be better control of my pain. Has anyone had this before and how did it work for you? The Dr. said I would stay for 2 nights.
4. I have a 17 month old and a 4 year old. How much help am I going to need and for how long? I will be honest I have a bunch of health problems and feel so tired from dealing with the pain from this for 4 years on top of having blood clots 4 times, Crohn's Disease, stage IV osteoarthritis, and a few others but I wont bore you. I usually am not one to be whining but I really think dealing with all this pain is start to drain me (plus this will be my 5 abdominal surgery in a little less than 5 years I'm sick of it!)
Thanks for taking the time to read my story. If you can't give me any pointers just stop in and say man that really stinks! We were driving home from surgeon apt today and hubby started laughing and I said what's funny and he says "now you can't say you don't want to b/c you a ragging" Uggh! Not really the support I was looking for :/

First off...hugs for you. Second....now you can say you don't want to because he's being an insensitive jerk. (Sorry if I'm out of line.)
The most important thing is you. I have no experience on the muscle situation. Make a list of all of your questions and make sure they answer all of them so you can proceed with peace.
I had a spinal block, it was great! I know there are some girls around who had epidurals. Hopefully they will find this thread.
It will be several weeks before you can lift your youngest. There are great guidilines on this site, but the best resource is your Dr. Your limitations may be different because of the buddy procedure.
You will need help. Who do you have, and how long can they stay? I was lucky enough to have my Mom for almost 6 weeks. Because of my eventful health year my recovery is expected to be a bit longer (8 weeks).
I am sorry you are having to have another surgery. It seems you already have so much on your plate.
Hang in there. Hugs and prayers for you.

Re: Can anyone relate, give pointers (kids mentioned)
I have my husband who can get off work (but hasn't been much help in previous surgeries). My mom who says she will help. Last time she took off a week. Stayed with the kids the day I had surgery. Left and never came back until her last day off. Quite enjoyed herself tho. Invited 4 ppl over, fried fish that stunk up my house, all the fixing. They all ate and left without cleaning a single thing. My kitchen was a disaster w/ dirty dishes everywhere. Plates piled on the counter and drinks around my livingroom. I was in my bedroom the entire time b/c I was very sick. Ended up having to be rehospitalized for a week.
A friend from church has helped so far by picking up my son from prek yesterday so I only had to take my youngest to the apt. She offered to keep her too if I thought she would not scream. My daughter has a health problem that left her in a lot of pain for the first 14 months of her life. She is getting better but cried all the time. Now she throws these awful fits!! I think b/c we picked her up walked her done everything we can think of to try to help soothe her she thinks I scream I get attention. So if I want chapstick I'm going to throw myself out in the floor and throw me a rigor. I have an aunt and a cousin who say they can help out some. My son was born preterm and has several areas of delays from that and oxgyen deprivation during delivery. He has 7 therapy sessions a week (pt,ot,speech, developmental). So I would really like to make sure he gets to those. He is in preschool and all his therapist come there to do the sessions so I just have to get arrangments for him to go and get picked up until I can drive. Each trip is about 45 mins (thats coming and going combined). I spend a lot of time in my car lol
Thanks for responding to my post. You were not out of line! I wish I would have had a good comeback like that but for some reason it was just all I could do not to bust into tears!!
