Pre-op yesterday and I feel so much better
Going into my pre-op consultation with my doctor yesterday, I had a lot of unanswered questions, concerns, and things that needed settling. I needed more clarification on why hysterectomy was THE best choice over other options. I had multiple questions about the role of my remaining ovaries and actions of hormones. I had LOTS of questions about sexual dysfunction and orgasm (my husband even chimed in and asked a bunch of his own...Go Honey!!).
I compiled these questions after reading many threads here, reading many of the articles, and yes...even reading the ebil HERS website material. I made categories...hormones...sex...bowel prep...recovery period, etc, and wrote all my questions for each category on separate notecards. I went in, asked ALL my questions and then some, and left feeling like I really had covered all of my bases and got as informed as possible.
The point: my doctor said she desperately wished that all patients would be as proactive and inquisitive and not just take all doctors' word as Gospel...even hers.
So for all you ladies waiting for your trip to "The Castle" and still riddled with doubt and questions...I can't suggest strongly enough for you to do what I did and approach your doctor with any and all questions you have. You are a valuable human being and your health and wellbeing is priceless...but the surgery is NOT. You're paying a ton to have this done, even with great insurance, and your doctor owes you his or her time to answer your concerns and put your mind at ease. Don't be meek. Question, question, question.

That is good advice. I am glad your doctor was able to answer your questions and put your mind at ease. Best wishes to you.

Excellent news and advice - that is what your surgeon is there for - and trust me ladies - they have heard it all - don't be shy - and do not hesitate to call them if you think of something else - before or after.
We as post-oper's are here to help if and when we can - but we are not doctors - we can tell you what we experienced and definitely add practically advice.
Also remember that nurses are your friend - they see you, hear you and can explain things in doc speak to get you what you need
