My post op appt is monday and I don't want to go

I am terrified of my post op or 6-week appt. I want to skip it and just move on. I'm feeling fine. Has anyone skipped their post op appointment?
I tried to cancel today but the office was closed. I'm pretty sure I cannot go on monday.
Is it that important?

me again

Last post was pointless as I am sure I can't go to the gyn again.
Not sure what on earth is wrong with me but I can't do it. Too scary and I'm too wimpy.
My dr. is not nice about cancellations.

I am so sorry you are feeling so scared about your post op appointment. I personally think it is really important that you go, so you can be examined and see how your cuff is healing. It doesn't hurt and they won't do a pap test at that time. The appointment will also be a good time to find out what kind of follow up you should be having, given that they found cervical cancer (I read your signature line). I too was feeling really good at my six week point, but felt much more reassured after the appointment that things were healing as they should be. Is there a particular reason you are so scared to go?

It is important that you go to the doctor, you already have the hardest part over, now is the time to find out how you are healing.

Why are you so afraid of seeing the doctor for your 6 weeks post-op examine?

My post op appt. was at 4 weeks and although I was not thrilled knowing the Dr. was going to feel and look up there to see how things were healing, it was pretty fast and I was reassured I was pretty much on schedule. Also, I had to get approval to return to work form signed; don't know if that's an issue for you or not. You really should go;think of it as the end of the chapter as you start a new one. It will be easier to call the Dr. if something does come up knowing you did what you were suppose to. I hope you continue to have a good recovery....

I agree w/donnakay31. I would want the reasurance(sp)that everything is going as it should regarding my healing and recovery.

Don't you want to know?

Why or what are you so scared of?

Avoidance is the very thing that causes women to have problems. Please don't cancel your appointment. Please go to see your doctor on Monday and find out that you're okay. Would it help you to have someone go with you? Mom? A sister? Best friend? Then you guys could go do something fun after leaving the doctor's office. How about that?

Try not to worry about your appointment. I was a little concerned because this was the first appointment that my husband did not go to with me. He was at the hospital every time that the dr came in to see me, so I was a little concerned. It all turned out to be good. She made it quick and it did not hurt like I thought it would. She said everything looked great. It was reassuring to hear that I was healing properly. Good Luck

I love ColoradoDreamer's suggestion! Have something positive to focus on after the appointment is done. I'm actually a huge chicken and was soooo scared and worked up before my appointment. I was almost in tears by the time the doctor came in the room. (And that was after taking 1/2 an Ativan!) Thankfully, it wasn't nearly as bad as I had feared it would be. I actually felt nothing during the exam. My fear was clearly the worst part of the whole thing.
