Strange

Good morning,
I had a LAVH on the 23rd my post op appt isn't until the 26th of Nov. My dr. didn't say much after the surgery just said see you at post op appt. I know if I have any questions I can call and the Dr. will have the nurse call me back with the answers. So if you have any questions don't hesitate to call and ask.........I do know that this site has answered alot of questions for me though. Good luck with your recovery

Don't know if this is strange...

I had a one week visit with my doctor then 2 weeks later another visit than one more visit for an exam.. I guess it all depends on your doctor.. My surgery also took 2 hours instead of the 1/2 hour to 45 min it normally takes..

Don't know if this is strange...

I only had one post op checkup at 5 1/2 weeks. I called once at about 2 weeks about bleeding but other than that, this site helped me through.

I agree with NPWriter, if you have questions, call. Otherwise, I really didn't want anyone examining me too soon!

Don't know if this is strange...

My doc sees her patients in one week to remove the bandage. My stitches were all internal, so there were no stitches/staples to remove.

I don't know if this is for all of her patients or not, but it was for me and her one other patient that I've met who had the same surgery.

this other patient had staples while I did not. I don't know what makes that difference.

I go back again at 6 weeks, then she wants to see me every 6 months for 5 years.

Don't know if this is strange...

I had my TVH last Monday (11/5) and the hospital told me to call my doctor for follow-up in 2 weeks. Fortunately, I ran into my doctor as I was getting on the hospital elevator after discharge and he said he wanted to see me in 1 week not 2. Since I haven't been yet, I can't really say whether it was necessary or not. I think different doctors do different things.

Don't know if this is strange...

Well, I know when I left the hospital (on a Saturday) the nurse made it clear, "make sure you call FIRST thing Monday to get a follow-up appointment"...so, of course, I called first thing Monday morning and, to my disbelief, was given an appointment six weeks later. I asked her "Uh...SIX weeks? Are you sure he doesn't want to see me earlier??" Then she told me she was sure - and that my having to call that early was because appointments for follow-ups get booked up quickly blah blah. So, then, true to my doubting nature, I ended up calling them back a couple days later when I asked my "question of the day" and just double-checked on the six week thing. Sure enough, they agreed it was six weeks.

So, yes, I would figure it's all a matter of what the doctors feel comfortable with - and I guess it depends on which surgery you had...but still, I must say, six weeks seems like an awfully long time.

My doctor's office went ahead and set my two week checkup at my last visit to his office before my surgery.
