Did anyone have.........

I had an incision that was reopened because it would not heal and kept bleeding. This was before the hyst when I had a laprotomy. I had to clean and pack the incision daily. For the first two weeks I had to visit the wound specialist on a daily basis.

I know I was incredibly frustrated and thought that I would never heal. However, I followed the doc's instructions to the letter and the incision did heal and eventually close up.

Did anyone have.........

I'm in the same boat. my incision got stubborn from the start. before I left the hospital. I came home with half open and half stapled. the center is wide, like and inch or more, and then it narrows towards the end. I hated having to change the dressing myself, it looked really bad to me and I was constantly worried about infection. but I saw a wound care specialist 2x a week and my dr. 1x. I'm 2 weeks out now and feeling better, it stopped leaking and seems to be healing, I will still see these drs, to be sure. my dr. explained that it needs to heal from the inside out and it will, mine is already closing together. I know it's scarey and yucky, but hang in there. just remember to keep it clean, I shower two or three times a day and always use a clean towel. and I wash my hands a lot just to be sure. I use a gause with saline to "fill the gap" then dry gause and then place a pad over and my panties keep the whole thing in place. now I am only changing the dressing 2x a day and it is looking better. I'm sure you have recieved instructions from your dr. about keeping it up, just follow their directions, they do know what they are talking about. best of luck
