TLH2/22 pain still

good morning all! I am in serious need of reassurance. I had a TLH (kept both ovaries)on 2/22. The doctor said after a few days I would be up and about, just a little tired. That is far from the truth. While I am not tired, the pain has been significant. Still walking slowly, it is painful on the right side when I walk. just achy and yesterday evening I started feeling this odd pressure. I can only compare it to when I was pregnant and how it feel when the baby drops. I feel that I was ill prepared by my doc on what to expect. If it weren't for this forum, I would think I was going crazy. He made no mention of my ovaries going to sleep. That I would cry over the silliest things. That recovery would be slow. My DH is in the Army and will be away for the next month so I really need to be ok. I planned the whole surgery around the Doc's advice on what my recovery would be like. To boot, the closed my incisions with steri-strips and the belly button incision never closed. good times! Any advice would be so helpful! Thank you ladies!

I am sorry you are still feeling bad this really is normalHaeling takes lots and lots of time. I am still having pain and had my SAH on 2/15 Dr said your body takes alot of time to heal . Sorry your DH cant be there for you I understand that to mine is Marines and left for Afghanistan for a yr 2 days before my surgery and still haven't talked to him . If the pain persists much longer definitely get a hold of Dr those incisions should have all healed by now you may have a small infection in your belly button site call your Dr.

Re: TLH2/22 pain still

Hugs!!!! I had mine on 2/2 and can tell you this is the first week I've felt decent. I know exactly what you mean about the head dropping feeling. I've found I have that more when I've over done it. Youre stitches haven't even begun to dissolve yet. Nerves just startingto heal. 2 wks is almost when I felt my worst!!! Partly because I expected to feel better. And the mood swings and hot flashes. Ohhh boy I wasn't prepared. Hating the hot flashes (I have ovaries).

So. 4 wks. Huge turning point. Do your best just to veg and lightly walk until then. I mopped and did laundry for first time this weekend but had to take big rest in middle.

Hugs.

Re: TLH2/22 pain still

I think your still having pain is probably normal, although if it's severe or accompanied by other odd symptoms, you'll probably want to contact your doctor to be on the safe side. I'm just barely over three weeks and still have significant pain. I try not to take painkillers during the day anymore but it still hurts. However, I do take a prescription medicine for pain at night because otherwise I can't sleep. Most of my pain is also on the right side, but I also had my appendix out along with many adhesions, scarring and endmetriosis dealt with. My doctor said this is why I'm still having significant pain...

Re: TLH2/22 pain still

"Hugs What you are feeling is totally normal. I had lavh on 15 Feb, tomorrow is three weeks and I am still having the odd twinge, discharge, bm issued, sometimes a little sore when I wee, sometimes have to wait a moment or two before my bladder will empty, am tired most of the time, with very short bursts of a little energy. Feel teary a lot, hot flushes not a huge issue for me yet but then again I think I was on the brink of menopause anyway. My incisions were healed after 9 days and the stitches were removed. The belly button one was very tender and not completely closed so I just cleaned it daily and put an antibiotic cream on it. It looks okay now, still a little red and a bit tender. The Dr told me that the instruments went into the belly button one so that would have more traumatized.

Sending you healing blessings. Visit this site as much as you can. It has really helped me get through each day. Also take it slow, rest heaps and take it one day at a time. You have only one chance to heal properly.
Xoxo
