LAVH how long in hosp.?

I just had my surgery scheduled for January 25th for submucosal fibroid and very heavy periods. Of course, I forgot to ask a vital question....how long will I be in the castle? Let me know? Thanks and this is a great website.

I was in the castle for 2 nights only because I had severe anemia, otherwise I would have been home the next day. I have had 2 friends have the same surgery and they were only in for 1 night. It might also come down to what your doctor thinks but if everything goes ok then you shouldn't be in there long. Just enjoy having everything done for you for a couple of days and before you know it you will be writing your advice for the ladies in waiting.

Thanks Melanie. I was afraid they might send me home the same day. Yes, I will take advantage of having everything done for me. I am sure I will need it. Did you start feeling better soon? I have chronic anemia so I am thinking once the bleeding is stopped I should start to get my energy back. I really am looking forward to getting it done. I can't tell you how much better I felt. I was like a new person once I took a good dose of iron to help replace what I didn't have before the surgery and what I lost during the surgery, which wasn't much. Actually, I really did not have any bleeding after surgery. My quality of life is sooooo much better. No pain or heavy bleeding and complaining to my husband that I just don't feel well and hoping he doesn't think I am just being a baby. I think now he knows I was not faking it.
They may want to do a blood transfusion. My doctor wanted to but it kind of freaked me out so I stuck it out and started getting my energy and color back so he said he will watch and see what happens and thankfully I did not have to do the transfusion. I know that it is safer now but it really was something I didn't want to do.

Thanks! It's great to have the support. I think my hubby if finally realizing how difficult all this bleeding has been. They just do not understand and that in itself is understandable. Take care and I am sure to have more questions. I have learned so much from this web site. BB practice at 5:45 am for the 15 yo. What are these coaches thinking? NO wonder I am tired!
