Got my date

I got my date for my hysterectomy--St. Patrick's Day-March
17th--hopefully I'll have a little leprechaun on my shoulder

Tomorrow I have to go for a urodynamics test--does anyone
have any experience with this? I went on the 15th for my
visit with the gyno/uro. He seems wonderful-spent almost
2 hours with me and told me I have atrophic vaginitis, cystocle
midline, rectocle, uterovag prolapse, vaginal enterocel--also
checking thickening of my colon and lining.

He took all sorts of measurements and told me I've had
this for a while--yes, I have, but this holiday season it just
seemed to rear its ugly head.

Besides the urodynamics test I'm having a vaginal sonogram
which I've had before. I also have a fibroid the doctor wants
to check.

I asked him about my ovaries and he said he usually
removes them. Soooo, at my age, 57, do I need my ovaries?
Sex has been on the back burner for 2years now due to my DH
going through cancer and chemo. My libido has been
nill so with his cancer medication and my lack of spark, we've worked it out--he's wonderful!!

I'm nervous and almost wish I didn't have to wait so long for
this to happen. But, it will give me more time to do some
research and prepare myself, and my home.

Thanks for listening and the best of luck to anyone who is
scheduled this week for their visit to the castle. , Barbara

Got my date

If you have already went through menopause, you may not need to keep your ovaries. I would discuss this in detail with you physician though since I am not an medical expert by no means considering your medical history with chemo, etc.

I am 44 years old and have my surgery scheduled for 5 Feb. I have about 5 medium fibroids that have been causing severe pain and bleeding with large clots for about a year now. I can't take having a period of this magnitude for 3 weeks out of each month. But, I am ready to get everything over with and begin living a "normal" life again.

I wish you all the best with your surgery.

Got my date

I know what a relief it is to get that surgery date at last. Waiting is hard, but you're right in that you will have ample time to prepare yourself and get everything in order for your recovery. Here's a wish for good luck from an Irish Girl for your St. Patrick's Day surgery!
