In some pain; Any ideas?

I'm new here. I had a full hysterectomy, I don't know technical wording, I had a cyst the size cantalope on left ovary & uterus. They were removed abdominally. About 7 in incision. Thankfully left ovary was OK. It took 2 1/2 yrs to finally find problem. They...7 GI specialists said I had I.B.S. Crohns Disease. Etc. I had so many painful tests catscans MMRI blood tests. Finally one day a family friend w/Crohns disease but in remission 5 yrs (he was forced retire from police dept) he told us see his gastrointestinal specialist. He saw the cyst on a DVD of a colonoscopy & endoscopic procedure it was size was small grape. That was 12/2011. So he thought it was on kidney so he sent me to kidney specialist who determined it was on the uterus or ovary. He checked my bladder & kidneys (another painful test but he wanted to make sure). Finally my gynecologist found it. I am tall weighed 145lbs before surgery I dropped size 9/11 to size 5. I was getting periods every 2 weeks. Get off then I'd start. But I'm hoping recovery is not far away. I've never wanted kids & never felt pain like this ever. Glad to find support & info. Just in pain & not much for pain. Any ideas?

Re: In some pain; Any ideas?

Have you talked to your doctor about alternating over the counter meds with prescription meds? This often works to keep the pain under control. That being said, you do need to talk to your doctor as some prescription meds contain the same ingredients that over the counter meds have and you could overdose on something. Please call your doctor and let him or her know that you are in pain and need help.

Until then, you can try heating pads as some ladies find relief with them. Please keep us posted.

I really did find a lot of comfort with my heating pad. I would prop myself up with pillows under my knees and behind me. Take your meds as prescribed and if you feel you need something more don't be afraid to ask your dr to meet your needs.
