Mammogram

I will be 35 in August. I had my complete hyst in March 2010. Do I need to get a mammogram yet, or can I wait? Does having the hyst make any difference?

Re: Mammogram

Talk with your doctor. I had my first mammogram in my early 30's. IMHO it's never too early.

Re: Mammogram

I also had my first mammogram by the time I was 35. If I remember correctly, the doctors want to have one by this age to get a baseline.

Re: Mammogram

I got my first one done at 35 so I would have a base line. I am 44 now and this is the second time I got called back. They saw something they just were not sure of. I had to get a biopsy. Talk about nerve wracking... Anyway, it turned out to be fatty tissue and nothing that is going to be a problem but I want to pass along that as long as you get it done each year even if it would have been something bad we would have caught it early. it is very important.

Re: Mammogram

Going tomorrow exactly four weeks post op to have my annual mammogram. First baseline at age 35 and then every year since age 50. Had ro go back last year for a diagnostic mammo but thankfully it turned out to be a cyst.

Gals don't neglect your topside. Having a mammogram is one of the most loving things you can do for yourself!

Re: Mammogram

I had my mammogram today. The tech said that my breasts were very fiberistic, but my doc told me that even before I had my hysterectomy. They also did a bone density test. I should know the results early next week. I am sure everything is fine, though. The tech said that even if they find calcium deposits they have you come back to be more thorough, they don't take any chances.
