6 weeks post daVinci hysterectomy: Scar Retracting (pulling sensation)

I had my 6 week post op this week for a DaVinci TLH with 5 incision sites. All of my incisions are smooth and healed except the site in the middle of my abdomen where they used the camera. The surgeon said this one is a retraction of my scar (incision dips into my stomach and feels like it is being pulled from the inside when I bend or stretch). She said it is a normal, but unfortunate, healing some will experience due to fibroblast activity (they are the scar forming cells). She said I can just manipulate the skin to help stretch that tissue and allow the skin to go back to a more cosmetic appearance. It can improve even on it's own up to a year after surgery. To fix it requires a surgery to detach the skin :-(

Has anyone else experienced this and corrected it on their own? Any advice would be appreciated.

Re: 6 weeks post daVinci hysterectomy: Scar Retracting (pulling sensation)

Last summer I had laparoscopic surgery and one of the incisions healed as a divot. My gyno called it "tethering." Sounds like the same thing (but I'm not a doctor). My gyno said that sometimes it gets better on it's own and that was the case for me, though it took several months. But when I went back in 3-4 months later, she looked at it and said it was so mild that she couldn't guarantee a significantly better result with a procedure. (I think she does it in-office) I did massage it little but not a lot. Actually, the best thing I did was to lose 6-7 pounds. With a firmer abs, there was less tissue to divot. (and now that I have swelly belly, that one spot is temporarily divoting again. whateva!)
