period symptoms worse now??

Hi, BK. I am the one that responded to your e-mail. Very interesting about your other issues - hypothyroidism and adrenal fatigue - because I have been told I have both those problems as well. I am on a low dose of thyroid medicine, and a "voo-doo" (applied kinesiologist/chiropractor) doctor told me I have adrenal fatigue and gave me lots of vitamins to take. The vitamins have helped, and the thryoid medicine helped me as well. I am having other strange symptoms now, since the surgery, along with all the period type problems (face breaking out, bloating, cramping, etc)that I thought I would be through with. I now feel kind of anxious and jittery a lot of the time. I thought at first I was drinking too much tea with caffeine, or it could be the horrific heat here (103 today) but I am beginning to think it is a hormonal thing. I may call my doctor about having some hormone studies done, just to make sure I don't have something else going on. I appreciate all your input!

period symptoms worse now??

I am one year post op and the last few months the pms symptoms have gotten worse. The cramps are very comparable to before my TVH. The doctor left both ovaries because of my age. If continue to worsen thinking of talking with my doctor. Glad to know I'm not losing it. People think because i've had a hysterectomy i can't experience these symptoms.

That is terrible to hear, sakhlong! I had heard of one person before I had my TAH who told me she still had delibitating cramps after her hysterectomy, but I figured she had to be an anomaly. Obviously not. It makes no sense to me. I need to do some research on ovaries. Sounds like it's going to be too bad I didn't do it before the operation - I just assumed no uterus meant no cramps. Dumb me. Why don't the doctors tell us this could happen??????

period symptoms worse now??

I am also almost one year out, and have both ovaries.

My symptoms are worse than before the hyst. I didn't used to be able to feel myself ovulating. Now I do for days and days and it hurts! And then 2 weeks later I get another round. I'm still trying to figure out when I'm ovulating and when I *would* be menstruating. I am definitely more moody and, though the cramping is worse for a few days every 2 weeks, I cramp around the cycle. This is exactly what was happening before the hyst! The only difference is that the cramping is higher up, around my belly button. No more of the awful painful throbbing in the lower pelvis.

I've been on this site for awhile, and have seen many threads like this. I guess crop and crop of sisters discover this ugly surprise. Why doesn't anyone tell us about this?!

Hi

Sorry so many of you are having so much post-op PMS and cramping! I knew that PMS was a possibility post-op, but post-op cramping was an unpleasant surprise, and weird, too!

The best thing I've used (for years) to prevent/reduce monthly breast tenderness/soreness is Borage Oil. I use Barlean's brand which is available at health food stores (I've taken 2-4 per day with meals). It may take a month or so to notice improvement. The GLA in it reduces prostaglandins (which or bodies produce, but which increase swelling and discomfort). Some women have luck with natural vitamin E (but typically this helps women who have a fibrous breast issue).

I also found that when I took Fish oil regularly (1-3 per day w/ meals - I like Nordic Naturals brand) I had *much* less cramping pre-op with my period! It also helps all sorts of aches and pains by decreasing inflammation. I was having ovulation cramping beginning at 2 months post-op (I'd never had that pre-op). It happened for 3 cycles, each time lasting less days. It didn't happen at all this month.

Too little Progesterone can cause breast swelling and tenderness, but too much can, too! It's such a fine balance! My doctor had me use Progest cream pre-op as I was low. Since we need less post-op, she said I could experiment to see what felt best...still trying to figure it out. I'm having a little bit of breast tenderness now, and think it's because I skipped the Progest this month to see how it would feel.

I've also been told that we use up more hormones when we are under stress. Then it causes imbalances that get expressed in the next cycle. Are you getting enough B-vitamins, rest, and avoiding caffeine? Hope this info helps...and that you all get some relief soon!

I definately think that the mood swings are worse now than before. Also the cramping not sure if it is normal. Has anyone checked with there doctor? I have been cramping for 3 days now. Thought would go away with the surgery wondering if it was worth it.

I take a buffered vit c powder and Pantethine thatis BVit. and Cortef for adrenal fatigue. I think my DHEA also has connection to the fatigue. Also too much thyroid can make you hyper. Too little causes major fatige. I am not saying this is your problem but it is worth checking. I have mine tested every 3 months. When it is regulated every 6 months. However I can usually tell by symptoms if it is off. Alot of Dr. just check the TSH levels. I read that just because TSH is within the normal range does not mean the thyroid is working right. They also have to test T3 and T4.
I am curious what vitamins you are taking for adrenal fatigue. Mabey a Naturepathic Dr. would know more about all of this than a reg. M.D. Most M.D.'s will laugh or diagnose you with depression, or say your not getting any younger. I think they mean well they just don't have the knowledge. After all medicine is a never ending process. There is alot about the human body yet to be discovered. I think alot of things have been discovered and taught over the past 10 years. There is way more info out and Dr's that know about these diffrent diseases than 10 years ago.
As I read these threads on this web site I just cringe. I have had so many health problems and just been fortunate to find help. I really feel for these ladies who are suffering terribly. I am horrified at what some are saying their doctors are telling them. I believe Knowledge is power especially when it comes to our health. The internet is such a big help for gaining knowledge. You canusually type in the saerch box things like American Thyroid association or adrenal fatigue foundation and go from there to get info. Just have to make sure they are reputable sites so you are getting facts and not someones theories or oppinions.
