I feel like I have to explain myself why I'm having it done and to tell you the truth I'm getting tired of people asking. I already feel like I did something wrong to be having this done at my age. I' m having a TAH
Your story is my story... I am 34 and have had severe endometriosis (and fibroids and adenomyosis) for at least 20 years. I have put the hysterectomy off since I was 21 (my GYN at the time was right-she said, "You're delaying the inevitable for the impossible"-I never was able to have children)
I had a tubal and ablation last Feb and immediately, the bleeding got even worse and 2 months ago I hemorraged during my period and was admitted to the hospital.
Needless to say, we ARE too young and it isn't fair that we don't have children but the hysterectomy will hopefully be lifechanging for our health and we can begin anew soon.
I am having DaVinci assisted on June12.
Good luck!
Katherine

Emyrue, you're too funny...I can just see it now, tampons and pads wrapped in pretty little bows! Thanks for making me smile!

Thanks to all of you, I am so glad I started this thread. I never imagined the response and comfort I would find! I am ready for my surgery and to get my life back, but it's so nice to know that there are people who understand the other feelings I'm having. It's wonderful to not feel so alone, I wish I could take each and every one of you to the castle with me!

Try to think of your situation as a "quality of life" decision - because we are young, we are able to take charge and reap the benefits of this surgery much longer than older people. Everyone I know that is my age is jealous that I am now period and pain-free (well, I'm still recovering, but that's the overall plan). In fact, I'm thinking of throwing a princess party for myself and giving out my extra stash of pads and tampons to my girlfriends as party favors!!!
Good luck!

EMY WHAT A GREAT IDEA!! Now, in my case I had been secretly going thru menopause for a few years now, due to a pituitary tumor screwing everything on the inside up. But it is a quality of life decision. And often a life saving decision! It's going to be great to not have all that 'girly' stuff to worry about! I am still in the healing process as well, but I can't wait to get a few paychecks under my belt, be done if the follow up visit, and GO BUY BRAND NEW PANTIES! It's the small things ya know

I'm always looking for an excuse to go shopping LOVE the idea of new underwear. But you know, you may need a new bra to go with it...and then a new top because the bra looks so good, and.....This is why my DH is glad to have me on the couch and away from the mall!

Lola Lane - read your signature, you are a superhero!

endoMEpcos - best of luck, we'll be thinking of you.

I'm having a DaVinci assited Hysterectomy on 6/12 and I am the only one at work without a child and I have been to MANY of their weddings and bridal showers and baby showers and even some of their children's weddings and showers so I decided to throw myself a babyless shower and I asked everyone to bring something for an infant or a toddler and we donated all the items to a local women's and children's shelter. For those of my friends who still have their uterus, they recieved a party bag with tampons and pads and Midol (since I will no longer be needing them!) and for the menopausal and post menopausal friends, they recieved pretty fabric "cool packs" and mini handheld fans and soy snacks! We had so much fun and I finally got my "shower"! Celebrate who YOU are ladies!!!!
