6 Weeks Post Hysterectomy, Extreme stomach bloating

I had an abdominal hysterectomy (kept ovaries) In late february.
In the 10 years before surgery I had one open myomectomy, 3 lap
myomectomies and 2 embolizations. The last embolization didn't seem to take (fibroids shrunk very little) And after that I began to have extremely heavy bleeding for about 3 years..

It turned out I had a fibroid that had gone through my cervix. My husband was ill for 15 moths and then died last year so any of my health needs were postponed. A year after his death I went to see the doctor who had recommended hysterectomy 2 years earlier.

They did several tests and biopsies in preparation for surgery. Biopsies were negative but my hemoglobin (blood count) was 5. It's supposed to be 12. I had to be admitted pre surgery for blood transfusions. They gave me 4 pints. After the second transfusion I was rushed into surgery. My uterus was the size of a 5 month pregnancy. I was glad to be having the bleeding stop and also to not look like I was pregnant.

Recovery has been fine except for the extreme swelling in my stomach. I look more pregnant now than I did pre surgery. My midriff is also huge. At 2 weeks post op I had an appt. with the doctor and tried to put on regular jeans. I was expecting to have a flatter stomach instead the pants seemed 2 sizes too small around the waist. So that same day I went to the doctor and when they weighed me I had LOST 11 pounds since the day before surgery.
I had very little appetite post surgery but the fact that I had lost 11 pounds and could barely button my 'big jeans' was so strange.

The doctor basically told me I'd have to work on my stomach when I was recovered. She didn't seem to listen when I said I had lost weight but couldn't button the pants that fit me fine before surgery.

Does anyone know what causes this? Is it fluid or something else?I have a previous scrip for water pills but that did nothing, I'm so discouraged. I saw myself in a mirror at a store today and it looked like I had padding around my stomach. My stomach is huge from just below my breast to just above my bikini line. I know this is trivial and shallow but everyone said I would feel so much better after the surgery.

I'm glad I'm not bleeding but I don't feel better. I'm the biggest I've ever been. I'm embarrassed to go back to work. I'd lived with the fibroids close to 20 years and I didn't want to feel like there was something in there all the time. It's worse now. My stomach is so bloated that if I still had fibroids I probably wouldn't feel them.
