5 months and am struggling

Help! My surgery was 12/16/05...am back to work full time, but am still so very tired! My doc says to take vitamins....but it is more than being tired. I cannot seem to remember anything at all...my kingdom to sleep through the night and be rested in the am! My DH is far from dear....not interested in a sexual relationship which, of course, makes me feel even worse. I want to ask my nurse practitioner about something besides an anti-depressant (which I am on)..more like an anti-anxiety something or other...but don't want to be shot down for this as well. Suggestions

Hi kaja40something

Sorry to hear that you are struggling. I don't have any experience regarding those types of meds and really don't have any suggestions for you, Sorry. I did want to let you know that I do care and hope that you can get all of what you need to make you feel better soon.

Hi Kaja,

Have you had your hormone levels checked lately? I don't know if you have your ovaries or are on an HRT, but it sounds like this might be a hormonal problem. I know your doc said take vitamins but I would give your nurse practioner a call. Explain to her how miserable you feel and that you would like something done besides "taking vitamins." I think an anti-anxiety medicine would make you more tired since they do have a drowsy effect. My doctor did tell me I'd be tired for a long time afterwards and from the posts on here, it seems a lot of sisters are having the same thing. It couldn't hurt to have some blood tests done to rule other things out. I'd even check my thyroid levels. I hope this helps and please let us know what happens, which course of action you decide to take. Good luck!!!

PS.... as far as your DH goes, it seems alot of them aren't being so "dear" lately. I'd talk to him and let him know your feelings and concerns. It may be a miscommunication issue.

I second the advice to have your ovarian hormones checked. Memory blips, vanished libido, insomnia--those are 3 absolutely classic symptoms of hormonal changes. Make sure you find a doctor who is familiar with hormonal and menopause isues, not someone who will dismiss your symptoms. Good luck--you really don't need to suffer with this. Your profile says you kept your ovaries, but please do remember that the hysterectomy can still really affect ovarian hormones.
