Good Grief...another question...endometrial biopsy

I have to have an endometrial biopsy on Tuesday this week. OF COURSE, my doctor who is hopelessly positive says "NO PROBLEM". I've heard there is cramping afterwards...how bad? Will I be able to go to work? I have a full day of patients to see that day!! Almost 30 of them!!!

Good Grief...another question...endometrial biopsy

I had an endometrial biopsy about two years ago...it was no big deal. the doc inserted what looked like a very long q-tip into the uterus. I felt a pinch...no pain whatsoever. he said I might cramp up afterwards so I took Advil, but there was no cramping. It was absolutely not a big deal, and I make a major production out of everything.

I also had my period at the time when it was done. that also didn't matter. So don't sweat the endometrial biopsy. Went to work the next day, no cramps AT ALL!!

Good luck!!

Good Grief...another question...endometrial biopsy

I've had two endometrial biopsies. I have to admit, the first one did hurt. It might help to take Advil before you go? The second one did not hurt, even though I was anticipating it. I don't think I had spotting after either and no cramping either. Not a big deal!

I have had too many to count due to pap smears not coming back "OK". ...as ususal! They really aren't that bad. I didn't go back to work right after them being done, due to the fact that they were done in the afternoon, but I could have. The next day is a go for going to work. Advil works great. Take some before you go and you will be fine. You may feel a pinch and a little cramping at the time it is done.

My first one, I went in totally blinded...not knowing what was to be expected. We went to a special room that had different instruments in it. After he said I may feel a little cramp, I said the f word ! It just came out! I told him I was so sorry!!! He said not to worry, that happens many times.

The other ones, I knew what to expect and did deep breathing. You will have a slight bloody show for a while.

You will be fine.

I think that ACOG recommends it to screen for cancer prior to the hysterectomy. My GYN was originally (last year) not going to do it, but after I mentioned the ACOG thing and now he things it might be a good thing to do (hmmmmm). Any way. He said that he will at least know before hand whether or not he's getting into something that may require more (gulp) work or treatment.

Too many to count

I've had more of these than I can remember--22 years of bad paps will do that to you.
It is definitely uncomfortable but you are fine after it is over. Might have a little discharge but I go back to work everytime.
They insert an instrument bigger than what they use for a pap smear and then clip pieces of tissue in various (usually 3-4) spots. I told my Dr (whom I adore--he has been on this journey with me the entire time) that he needed to climb up there on the table and let me clip pieces of his most prized possession without any anesthesia and then tell me how it felt. He did at least blush. I use my old Lamaze breathing from childbirth days and it is over. It isn't fun and you do cramp while it is happening, but I never had any other effects after it is over.
