surgery 6 days ago....questions

I had a hysterectomy 6 days ago. They took it all. I have an appt. in two weeks with a Dr. to discuss hormone therapy in the form of compound plant derived meds.
Here is my question....As of yesterday...I am feeling hot most of the time...waves of heat washing over me every few minutes. I am light headed and winded. Lastly I have no energy. I am in pretty good shape and work out regularly so not thinking this is a fitness issue.
I would love to hear some feedback on these symptoms.

Re: surgery 6 days ago....questions

Sounds like you are experiencing hot flashes! The lightheadedness though could be a sign of dehydration too so make sure you are drinking plenty! If the hot flashes are bothersome, you could call and move your appointment up. If not, try some cool washcloths on your head and neck. I've done a few rounds of lupron and zoladex in the past and the hot flashes got to the point where I wanted to walk out in the snow naked (don't worry, I didn't!) I hope you get relief soon!

How are you doing otherwise for being 6 days post op?

Re: surgery 6 days ago....questions

Thank you soooo much for answering. other than light headedness and hot flashes I feel pretty good. Not a lot of pain. I am not taking pain meds because I don't hurt. I am bored out of my mind. I will call my doc tomorrow and see what is going on. Thank you!! Thank you!!!

Re: surgery 6 days ago....questions

That's great that your aren't experiencing a lot of pain. I had pain through the 2nd week but felt much better by week 3. I'm 5 weeks today and finally felt safe to flush the rest of my pain meds since it had been a few weeks since I had to take any. Let us know what the dr says!

Re: surgery 6 days ago....questions

I am going on almost two weeks post op and I have the same thing with the hot flashes to the point of almost collapsing. I also had the uncontrollable Craig start 4 days ago. Nothing particular sets off the crying it just starts and doesn't stop. I see my doctor this week and was told I need to start HRT and antidepressants... Any suggestions besides antidepressants?!

Re: surgery 6 days ago....questions

What kind of surgery did you have? Laproscopic? Robotic? etc.

I get the night sweats. Is that hormonal too?

My doctor doesnt' prescribe hormonal therapy "unless needed." I hope not to need them, I don't want them.

Re: surgery 6 days ago....questions

My doctor hasn't prescribed hormonal therapy yet because she has said the same thing about not everybody needs it so we shall see. It's kinda made me want to scream I would have been better off just starting it and not seeing.
