TAH was on Monday and still no movement. I've taken stool softeners two nights in a row, eating high fiber, drinking my water and walking. WHEN!!!

I just got some prunes, how many do I need. I have this fear tomorrow when I have to go get my stapels out that I'll have an accident on the way.

I know everyone is different, I'm just feeling so bloated and uncomfortable. What goes in has got to start coming out!!!

I ate 4 with dinner. Nothing else was working. I still eat 3-4 a day rather than take pills.

I was just like you when I came back from hospital, no BM for 5 days. I finally called my doctor and he gave me different laxitive and it worked. I still take 5 to 10 prunes a day (no more pills) and it help me a lot. I will be fine, don't worry about it.

Hugs

I take a liquid Calcium/Magnesium supplement every night before bed. It always helps to keep me regular. Just a suggestion....you may want to check with your doctor.

Hey Highlands...you hit the nail on the head! My doc told me to take Magnesium Citrate = it comes in different flavors and in 20 ounce bottles....I started with Cherry flavor and drank half a bottle - two hours later took the rest and then 2 more hours later - RELIEF! and no straining and back to normal!! I keep a bottle on hand in the fridge for "just in case" but my doc assured me that once my system got going I'd be okay and once all the morphine, vicodin, etc. got out of my systems and my bowels "woke" up again every thing would be normal....and it is! Funny how something so inexpensive is such a miracle!!

Magnesium Citrate is what I had to use for bowel prep. Made me sick to my stomach, but it worked within 30 minutes.

Hey there - the magnesium was a big help for me as well. I did have to take it along with stool softeners, prunes, high fibre as well. But it was the magnesium that seemed to finally do the trick.

As an added benefit, apparently magnesium is a mineral many people are low on and can help with a number of different health problems. As far as I know, it's a pretty good thing to add in anyway (although I'm not a professional on the subject...just opinionated !)

Prunes are this girl's best friend. I will eat between 5 and 10 a day... I have IBS also so I often go from diarhear to constipation every 24 to 48 hours. I don't like to have to take medication for it - so I try to rely on my diet to keep me regular. Drinks lots of water - start off with 3-4 prunes - and if nothing a few hours later - have 3-4 more... You're right - eventually what went in must come out!
