coughing fits
Can't get rid of this dry cough and it seems to be getting worse. And of course with every cough there's some leakage! Aaaurgh! Hope I'm not damaging any of what they tried to fix. Any suggestions?

Re: coughing fits
I had that too, only lasted a couple of days. I believe it was irritation from being intubated and laying down too long.

Re: coughing fits
Chloaseptic throat spray will stop the tickle causing you to cough for a bit. Hold a small pillow or stuffed animal to your belly when you cough. Also anything warm and soothing to drink. Hope it helps, first 100 times I coughed I thought I was tesring it all out, 6 wks post op I am fine.

Re: coughing fits
sip lots of water; I used nyquil cough (it also has a decongestant) to get rid of my cough. I thought mine was related to surgery, but I honestly think now it was allergies.
I was surprised that the cough wasn't as painful as I thought, but after a few days my ribs and back hurt as well as my lower abdomen.
Two weeks post op, and my cough is gone.
