2 weeks post-op

Had a laprascopic vag assist hysterectomy two weeks ago and am healing well. I have infection in one of my incisions but treating with antibiotics and expect it to be cleared up soon. I am learning quickly when I do more than I should I feel some strain pain and get a bit of vag discharge so I am gonna try to take it easy for the next little bit. I am finally getting some much needed energy back and can't wait to spend it after years of being anemic and so tired.

I had my first 'o' tonight, this was what worried me most...that things wouldn't work as they once had! Well I noticed it wasn't as intense as normally would be but everything worked like it should and I am thinking intensity level might be lowered as I was scared to hurt myself in someway.

I don't regret for a minute having my surgery and would recommend this procedure to anyone having terrible monthly periods like mine which were similar to having a baby every month with contractions for two days...my body trying to pass clots.

PS - anyone having a hysterectomy, I would suggest you confirm at the time of your surgery with your dr the procedure... I almost lost my ovaries! They had in the operative notes to take and I never once discussed removal, only if there was something wrong with them to take them.

Thanks HysterSisters for all the information here, that each of you leave. It sure made my experience a lot easier to endure from pre to post op.

Re: 2 weeks post-op

bourgeois,
Glad to hear you are healing well, and that you have no regrets with your surgery. One day those awful periods will be a distant memory for you. Good news that the "o" is still present and accounted for. It may get more intense with time... many women say that happens for them.

And excellent advice to confirm everything to be removed while you're in pre-op! You likely would have lost your ovaries if you hadn't done this.
