16 months post op, NEEDS SUPPORT

I am 16 months post op for TLAVH, and I still have swelly-belly at the end of the day. Sometimes my abdomen burns across the top. I remember not even being able to wear nylons to work (office) for at least a year because I would be in so much pain at the end of the day. Otherwise I am not doing too bad. Does anyone else out there still have some of these symptoms? Is someone farther along and can tell me that their abdomen doesn't swell up anymore? Mine is still visibly different at the end of the day. Fairly thin in the morning and fairly fat at night! I still avoid nylons.....OMG!

Re: 16 months post op, NEEDS SUPPORT

Hi 7sassy

I am 13 months post-op from a TVH. I don't experience swelly belly anymore, although there are still times when my insides feel tender. Then again, I'm pretty large to start with, so I could be still swelling and just not notice it--but I put a pair of nylons on the other day for the first time in months and found the panty section to be a lot more snug than I remembered.

Have you talked with your doctor to be sure your healing has gone as it should and there's nothing else going on? It might be worth a phone call.

I hope everything settles down soon for you. I'm glad you're doing well otherwise!

Re: 16 months post op, NEEDS SUPPORT

I am almost a year post op and I still have a big swelly belly at the end of the day. I also feel like my insides are sort of stuck and if I move wrong I get some very sharp pains. I have gone back to my DR to ask if it could be more adhesions since I had many of them when they did my TVH/BSO. The DR doens't seemto thing I should be having any issues but I am and I am trying to get a second opinion from another DR. I know it can take up to a year to heal completely but I know I should not be having severe pain a year later. I hope that you can find some answers.
