dVH/RALH: scar tissue found on other organs during hysterectomy surgery?

Ok maybe I'm over thinking all of this but I've read several posts where doctor's found the uterus attached to intestines etc. Didn't that show up in the ultrasound? I'm nervous enough lol now I'm thinking into what the doc will find when he opens me up!

I was wondering about this too. I also wonder if this can happen if you've never had any other abdominal procedures.

I have a clear ultrasound so no, it won't show up on ultrasound (at least mine never has).

I don't know how they find that out before surgery. I do know that they are fully expecting my uterus to be attached to other parts. My bladder and uterus are already adhered but at my last surgery (2008) she left it alone since I wasn't have a hysterectomy at that point. She had to clean a lot of adhesion's up during that surgery.

The reason I am having a TAH is because of the adhesion's and she said she needs to feel with her fingers my bowel to see how bad it is. She said she will clean as much as she can but major organs and blood vessels she can only do so much (for adhesion's and endo).

This was all found out during another surgery though, so I'm not sure how helpful my post is .

Hi Jackie 92, Stop over thinking! The chances are that you're going to have a normal straightforward op.I know its hard but it won't help you.A doctor could tell you the answer to some of these questions but we're not doctors and you could keep yourself up all night thinking of new ones.Try and focus on the things you'll be able to do soon,that you couldn't do before.sending hugs

I didn't mean to scare anyone! Or cause anyone anxiety. We are all having our hysterectomies for different reasons and each person has their own set of issues. I do have adhesion's but they do absolutely know this. If your doctor hasn't mentioned anything I wouldn't worry

I found out that I had a lot of adhesions during my surgery for a tubal. ..And I do believe u can only have adhesions if you've had prior abdominal surgeries..In my case I had 2 C-sections..I'm having my hysterectomy bacause of problems I've been having due to the adhesions also...

I am at the computer today and it hurts so much to sit. I have to take extra pain pills to sit at the computer - hence my sort of sporadic odd posts.

The TAH will be my 6th pelvic surgery and I've been dealing with chronic PID. There are reasons for my adhesion's. I certainly don't think everyone has them. But they have never shown up on ultrasound.

I had a lap in September 2013 they found endo, and large adhesions along with scar tissue. I had several ultrasounds and none of this was seen before they went in.

I know I'm over thinking! lol woke up this morning more positive & less freaked out!! Everything is in God's hands and the doctors I know worrying will get me no where. maybe it was the wine that relaxed me but regardless I'm ready for 730am. One of my friends said last night " you shouldn't worry you have the Luck of the Irish on your side!!"

Other than a slightly enlarged left ovary with a small cyst my ultrasound was normal. That is why my insurance initially denied my hysterectomy. Then when I ened up in the office in so much pain I was sweating and vomiting the doctor once again pushed for it. When he went in he said it was like going and pulling apart spiderwebs. I had a ton of adhesions as well as other complications they didn't see on the ultrasound. I had had a csection and open tubal 5&6 years prior. I am now almost one week postop and the pain I was suffering with before is completely gone!! I am very thankful.
