Emotional?

Why am I so emotional? It started the day after surgery. I went up to thank the nurse I had the night before for being so kind to me and started to cry! Then two days later I was just thinking how lucky I was to have such a wonderful caring husband that takes such good care of me and started to cry...then (this is really weird) I started to cry yesterday because I want a cigerette so badly! What is going on??

Don't Cry!!!

Hi,

I'm sorry that you are crying so easily. Are you on HRT? I was like that before surgery because my hormones were constantly fluctuating. If you are on one maybe the dosage is wrong. It just sounds like you are a sweet, caring and appreciative person to me. As for the cigarettes I know how that feels. I didn't smoke for 5 days post-op and I thought I was gonna go nuts once I got home. I decided right now wasn't the time to quit. Just too many other physical things going on. I know that I felt like crying because I couldn't drive to go get some and I felt trapped by that. It's a very difficult thing to have your independence taken away as an adult!

Big Hugs to you!!

Emotional?

No, I'm not on HRT, was told I wouldn't need to since I kept my ovaries, but will ask about it today at my appt. I know what you mean about not being able to go get the smokes - I do feel so trapped! My dh wants me to quit so he wouldn't get them for me either. Boo Hoo....

Dear "Giggles",
I'm glad you're recovering well! I am also recovering just fine. I am about 7 wks post-op now, but did feel "fragile" (like crying a lot) for a few weeks after the SAH I had. I'm not on HRT as I still have the ovaries, so I'm going to blame that 'emotional period' on just having to deal with the 'new' experience of major surgery + dealing w/ the emotions of now not being able to have children. I knew about these things before the operation, but actually dealing w/ the reality (and my feelings, and the feelings of the people around me) afterwards perhaps was more difficult than I could have guessed. I feel it's all getting better for me every day and hope that it's getting better daily for you too. I definitely feel better week by week. Thank you for posting to this website, it helps so much to share thoughts and feelings - do you agree? I hope so!!

emotional

I too was emotional after surgery even when I just had an ovary removed (since had a TAH BSO). I actually started to weep when
no one was there to see me in the hospital by 8:30! Later during a Hallmark Special on TV! Think it
had to do with keeping oneself in check emotionally a bit beforehand just so that you can get through the procedure. So afterwards, there is some relief and you let yourself feel. Before surgery I was told there was some chance of ovarian cancer so I had steeled myself. Hope you're feeling better.

Emotional?

I am 9 days post op and kept my overies. I feel emotional today also. It may be the weather and being in the house for too long. I havent been sleeping good either.

about the cigs, I had my daughter run to the store and buy them for me first thing this morning. My DH doent like me to smoke either so he wont buy them.

We just have to hang in there because it will bet better.

I kept my cervix also and just had the "mini period" they talk about. My emotions may have to do with PMS. At least I know my overies are working.

Giggles, that may be the case for you too. Check your calender and see when your monthly cycle is.

Emotional?

I asked my Dr. about it today when I was there to have my staples removed and he said that whenever you go through major surgery you are going to go through some sort of emotional symptoms. Some people get weepy, some get giddy and goofy. I told him I thought it had something to do with hormones, and he said it didn't - that if I had had heart surgery the same thing would've happened. So I feel alittle better now knowing that I"m not alone, and that its perfectly normal. Still doesn't help take away the craving for a smoke though, LOL
