spoke with the Anesthesiologist today.

I had decided after reviewing all my options to have an epidural
for pain management with general anesthesia, but since i had not talked to the Anesthesiologist himself yet, i was loosing sleep over this-(i know it sounds crazy), but i know what it's like to wake up in pain after surgery and not be able to tolerate the murphine. so I decided to call and talk to the Anesthesiologist today, he assured me that as long as my dr. approves, i will get the epidural.
i also asked if many women get this kind of surgery with a spinal and light anesthesia, he said that it is very rare, but as long as the surgeon agrees he will do it, he did admit that with the spinal, the muscles and the nerves are not as relaxed and it could make things harder for the surgeon.
He also said that he will wait until i am sleeping before doing the epidural.
Anyway, I just wanted to share this with you ladies and let you know that i feel much better now, since this has been on my mind for a few days now.

I'm glad you're feeling better. It sounds like you have a very comjpassionate anesthetist. Sometimes it is advisable to have the epidural inserted before you are put under because they can tell by your sensations whether they have it in the right place or not. I had to have my first one done twice. Not a terrible thing to have to have done.
