Constipation---What a relief!
After suffering with constipation for two days I've finally found relief! I had to share the good news with someone and I didn't think my husband would appreciate a call to his office just to announce the news. He would be glad for me, especially since he did a 6AM run to "Wally World" for prunes and pericolase this morning, but he wouldn't appreciate the call to the office to announce the fact. Anyway I had a TAH/sbo on Monday. I was allowed to come home from the hospital on Wednesday. I was "passing the required gas", my intestines were rumbling and bubbling and I was given the green light to go home. I had two miniscule BMs on Wednesday afternoon. Yesterday and especially last night and this morning I was soooo uncomfortable. I became good friends with "john" having a terrific urge but unable to get any results. I literally spent from 5:00 to 6:30 this morning in the bathroom. I kept pushing the water, had bran flakes and prunes for breakfast, ate the high fiber/high protein homemade bread that my friend brought over yesterday, and ate fruit. I called the doctor about the pericolase and he gave me the okay but instructions said it worked better at night so I was waiting for evening to use it. Then the awaited miracle happened! I finally found my relief and the first, dreaded BM has happened. To any of my hystersisters out there who might be struggling with the same thing I did, just hang on, follow the dietary suggestions for water, high fiber, etc. and don't hesitate to call the doctor's office (mine is always willing to answer questions). I'm now so zapped that I intend to nap for the rest of the afternoon. Ms. Bessie

Isn't it funny and demeaning when you're happy about pooping! Been there, done that! I was obsessed with it until it finally happened for me, 5 days after surgery!

Constipation---What a relief!
Hi there Ms Bessie and congratulations! I also only just went to the lavatory yesterday, 8 days after my op (and having lied my way out of hospital!) Thanks to all those Sisters who supported me in my whingeing and you are so right Ms Bessie - all anyone can do is follow the high fibre/lots of water/keep moving about advice and hope for the best.
Have a great day!

Constipation---What a relief!
I didn't have any trouble with the first couple of bm's...and I was so proud of the first one! The last couple of have been accompanied by painful gas and then I just have to GO, immediately. I guess it's good to know that at least everything is working in there, huh? I'm still having prunes with breakfast, water, walking, etc. Don't want to get things all fouled up if I can help it!

Thanks Ladies...I just knew I wasn't the only Hystersister with this problem. We sure can support each other. Just knowing what we are experiencing has happened to others helps us cope. And I did take a nap...3 hours long! Pamper yourselves...Ms. Bessie
