bleeding all over again....

I am 15 days post op and I had stopped bleeding 5 days after surgery. Three days ago, I went grocery shopping and coming on the end at the registar, I felt pain and then the bleeding started again. I am still bleeding, it is getting worse. I am soaking a panty liner every 2 - 3 hours.

I wasn't expecting this. I thought that when I stopped bleeding 5 days after surgery that I woulnd not bleed again. Has this happened to anyone else? I am scared that I may need to go back into the hospital. I am seeing the doctor tomorrow and I am afraid of the examination.

Msmagee -- it could be a simple as you have overdone it (and once you lay down and take it easy it will stop). Did you keep your cervix? if you did it could be a "mini period". If not, it could be an infection (easy fix with antibiotics) or you might have torn some of your sutures at the vaginal cuff (the area where your cervix used to be if you did not keep it).

Don't be afraid of your visit - it is unlikely that this is anything that could be worse than your surgery!!!

Good luck!

What are you doing grocery shopping at only 15 days? You are over doing it for sure! Rest up. Everytime I over did it the first 4 weeks post op I would get some bleeding. Take it easy.

bleeding all over again....

I had the same thing happen to me 21 days after my surgery and then again 30 days. When it happened the first time, I actually went in to see my doctor. She told me that when they do the surgery sometimes blood gets trapped and will come out and that's probably what happened with me. She checked me (it didn't hurt) and didn't see anything out of the norm of healing. As you start to heal and your stitches come out you might experience this. My bleeding usually only lasted that day and then it was gone. It's good that you are going to see doc tomorrow just to ease your mind. When it happened to me again the second time, I was frustrated but I didn't worry too much. I know this is all part of the healing process. Take care

bleeding all over again....

Thank you very much ladies for replying. I am thankfull that I am seeing the doctor this morning. I wouldn't really be concerned only that I went from no bleeding for 5 days and thinking that I was through with that to 4 days of bleeding and soaking a pantyliner every 2 hours or so... I 'm just nervous.

My husband drives long haul from Canada to the United States and I have three children. It is hard not to do anything. The eldest is a twelve year old boy and he has been my biggest problem this week. Lots of whine and complain when asked to help me out.

bleeding all over again....

Thanks Rabbit. His Grandma gave him a good kick in the butt this afternoon. I may take the kids and go to my parents for a few days.

I am just home from the doctor's office. The examination was very painfull. He cut away three stitches to relieve pressure I had and because of infection that he could see where the cervix used to be. The infection grew over everything. He told me I have a really bad infection and I need to see him again on monday after a course of strong antibiotics starting today. He advised me to do absolutely nothing for the next while, but that is so hard. My husband drives a truck for a week on three days off.

Rabbit, were you really weepy after your operation? Maybe it's just all of the stress I'm feeling, but I don't feel like I am doing a great job at keeping things under control.

Msmagee--
I hope you will find a way to get the help you need so that your body can heal! I'ts no fun having so many responsibilities when you just can't physically do it. If I were in your shoes, I'd be in a puddle of tears.
I'll Keep you in my thoughts and prayers.
