Is it vaginal dryness? Help!

I am 47 and had my TAH 3 months ago. I kept my cervix and my right ovary. I did very well the first two months than I started having symptoms similar to a yeast infection but with no smell and discharge, just burning. I went to see doc who said I had a lot of yeast. He cleaned it and gave me a 1 dose prescription and a cream. Nothing changed and I actually got worse. I went back to Doc, he found more yeast and gave me 3 times the normal dose of Diflucan plus a different cream. Nothing worked. The results of a colture are back and surprise!! It's not a yeast infection. The burning is there, from my rectum to my clitoris. It's strong enough that it bothers me to seat. I can't wear pants and don't even think about sex. My libido seems down too. Could this be vaginal driness? Has anyone else had a similar experience? Thanks for any help.
A to all sisters who need some TLC.

Is it vaginal dryness? Help!

PLEASE someone answer this!!! I am almost 4 years post-op from a TAH/BSO, no HRT and this is starting again with me. It seems that the heat of spring, and the working outside make it much worse. I actually stand at my files at work with my legs apart!!!!! Then, it leaves for a few days, then comes back! I have tried EVERY over the counter thing out there, and some of my own concoctions, and nothing helps. Do you just want to reach up inside yourself and grab something & yank! Of all the things that have gone wrong since this surgery ( and there have been many!) this one has got to be the worse. Even worse than the two hour lap I had last year for adhesions! I really feel for you, as I know exactly what you are going through. I have an appt. tomorrow at 9:15 with the specialist who did my lap, hoping he can help with this, as he is also a menopause expert. I will let you know what he says.

Is it vaginal dryness? Help!

It certainly does sound like dryness --- or an irritation to laundry detergent, soap, bath products??
Are you using any OTC moisturizers? I use Gyne-moistrin. Replens is nasty, icky stuff. There's also a KY long-lasting out.

Is it vaginal dryness? Help!

i have the same thing since my lsh. it started in january. monostat clears mine up and i have no symptoms while i'm on it but within a short amt of time, its back again. i just saw my surgeon today and told him i didnt really think it was yeast because i have no discharge..i feel more dry than anything else, with terrible burning, feeling swollen and bad burning when i pee. he looked at a sample under the microscope and said he saw no bacteria but a small amt of yeast (i just finished 2 weeks on monostat every night). he gave me diflucan to take...three pills three days apart and then once a week for six months. he said that long term with the diflucan usually takes care of things. i do know what you mean about it feeling dry and burning...not the usual yeast symptoms. did your dr take a sample and look under the microscope?

Thank you all for replying. At least I know I am not alone.
I am not using any product that could be an irritant. Monistat doesn't work for me and, unfortunately, Diflucan hasn't either (at least so far). I haven't tried any OTC products yet because I thought I had a yeast infection. My doc did not look under a microscope but send out a sample which, as I mentioned, in the original post, showed no yeast at all. I really understand when Whatsnormal writes she stands in front of files with her legs apart. I have to do the same. I am going back to the doc tomorrow to talk to him. I will let you know. Let's stay in touch and see if we can help each other.

we must have different issues because as long as i use the monostat, i feel fine. within a few weeks off, it starts again. i hope the longterm diflucan works for me. he said he might do another 6 months after i'm finished with this round. good luck at the dr's tomorrow...let us know what he says.

Is it vaginal dryness? Help!

(((fiore)))
This sounds miserable. I haven't had it, but want to encourage all of you who are suffering with similar symptoms to continue to follow up with your drs. It sounds as if there may be more than one condition being described in the posts here. If one dr can't find the answer for you you need to seek another opinion until you get it figured out.

There is an article on Vaginal Dryness that might be of some help to you. I know many women have used vaginal estrogens to promote healing in the vagina. Ask your drs, but I believe there are instances where it can be helpful with reoccurring yeast and dryness and other vaginal irritation.
I wish you well in finding your answers. Let us know what you find out.
