Re: 1 Year and 4 Months TAH Depressed

Not being a doctor, I prescribe a big hug, a few good reads, and another big hug.

The good reads are:
Anxiety & Phobia Workbook
Feeling Good
Stop Walking on Eggshells
Get the Life You Want

If you first doc is ignoring you, head to an endocrinologist if you think it's hormones and/or a psychiatrist if whatever it is has gone into a depression.

Some sunshine and another big hug might help too.

Re: 1 Year and 4 Months TAH Depressed

I am 35 years old and I too had a TAH, mine was 10 months ago. I feel pretty much the same way you do. I am moody, have weight gain (35 lbs in 10 months) have lost most interests, including sex. I envy the other sisters who have such positive things to say after their surgery. I try taking it one day at a time. I have heard alot has to do with hormones. Do you take any? I am on estradiol 1mg I do not take them regurally which i am sure is not helping. I think we should both try calling the doctors AGAIN and take a trip to the library and try reading the books suggested. Wishing us both a bright and happy day tomorrow. ))HUGS((

Re: 1 Year and 4 Months TAH Depressed

I'm really glad I went to a psychiatrist who could prescribe medication, rather than having my pcp guess at it. Make sure to ask for one that doesn't interfere with sexual function since that is one of your current symptoms.

The doc rx'ed the correct drug for my and my symptoms on the very first try.

And having your hormones in order (especially if your ovaries were taken) is very good advice.

Re: 1 Year and 4 Months TAH Depressed

Sending you light and love. You do not have to live like this, please seek outside help; a therapist, support group, books, friends, hystersisters!

Take care, my friend.

Re: 1 Year and 4 Months TAH Depressed

Please keep on seeking help....there is no right cure for everyone. If your doctor ignores you....please find another, and another until you find one who is willing to help you. And if they offer other alternatives....give them a try...they might not help your best friend..but they might help you. I'm now on an anti-depressant. Was scared to try it with what all I have heard. I''m doing better..haven't been on it long enough to say yea I'm fixed...but I feel I'm on the right road. Please just don't give up!!!! Go where ever you have to go!!!
