Nervous, happy, and annoyed!

I go today for my pre-surgery consult, surgery is one week from today. I'm soooo ready for it but nervous at the same time. My Dr thinks I may have Adenomyosis (spelling?) but not 100%. Three doctors, including a specialist seem to think hyster is my best option but only give me an 80% that it will solve my problem. One concern is---any of you with major mood swings, major weight gain during pms--did your surgery help any of this? I bought a pair of jeans that fit me perfect last week with a little room to spare, I started my 3 week bloat and today they don't fit!!!! I gain like 10 pounds in 4 days and hang on to it for 3 weeks!! It's so frustrating and depressing! I don't even care if I attempt to exercise anymore because it gets me no where! The mood swings are awful, I go from sweet to evil in seconds! I have terrible back and pelvic pain-bleeding isn't bad, but I do have break through bleeding throughout the month. I have no doubt it will help my pain but I'm wondering if you have had success with the bloat and mood swings??? Have a wonderful day and thanks for letting me vent!

Re: Nervous, happy, and annoyed!

Are you keeping your ovaries? If your ovaries stay you will still cycle. You just will no longer have a period.

That being said, I have noticed that post-op my pms symptoms are much less severe. No more huge swollen breasts, the fire breathing dragon is leashed, but I still crave spicy food (not a bad thing). I only have my one ovary remaining. The ovary that was removed had a grapefruit size cyst. I also had adenmyosis. My Dr was confident that my pms symptoms would reduce, but by leaving the healthy ovary I would not be slammed into menopause. I am only 39.

Every body is different. Maybe some of the other sisters have had an experience closer to yours. Hang in there. For me, the hyster has been a blessing.

Re: Nervous, happy, and annoyed!

Sounds like your emotions are all over the place. I had Adenomyosis that was ONLY discovered after my uterus was removed and I have to tell you having a hysterectomy was one of the BEST things I have ever done for myself and I have no regrets.

An 80% chance is so much better than no chance and try not to think about the what ifs, once your surgery is over whatever is left to deal with can and will be dealt with and we are here for you all the way.

Re: Nervous, happy, and annoyed!

Easton22,
I can relate with the mood swings. I told my husband when I first started having them to just say, "Honey, I love you I'm going to the firehouse" (he a vol. firefighter & it's a safe distance from me.) He's only had to do that maybe twice. One time I yelled back to him to "Take the dogs, it might be safer for them too." Or if I can feel it coming on, I take myself to "time-out" (the bedroom) and shut the door till it passes.. That way the dog won't get yaped at for breathing funny or stepping infront of me and she's not subject to my EVIL twin who if I could I'd seperate myself from as well. (she's a sweetheart and just want to love & comfort when I'm like that) I hate that feeling when it hits b/c it has such a razor's edge and no one is safe from the biting actings.

Weight gain. I'm doing WWs and have stayed within the points every day and I original lost 5 lbs. Now, I can't lose an oz....I can GAIN one no problem. }=o/ and I'm constantly bloated and they haven't filled me with gas yet. GRRRRRR I wanted to loss maybe 15 lbs. before surgery, don't think that's goin to happen. .=<

I wake up with cramps and go to bed with cramps and I'm just one big cramp 24/7 the only releif is when I fall asleep or if take something for it. And I'm always checking to see if "Flow" is visiting cause I never know.

But we'll get through this and come out better for it. We need to stay as positive as possibe and not let our "evil twin" get the best of us.

Hang in there.
Happy Valentine's Day.

Re: Nervous, happy, and annoyed!

I'm in your shoes right now, so I can't answer if the surgery will make it go away but I do hope it will as well. It is a frustrating cycle.
I'm loosing my ovaries during my hysterectomy, and I'm so glad I will no longer cycle- I'm sure my husband and children will be as well!
Good luck to you!

Re: Nervous, happy, and annoyed!

Thanks so much everyone! I am losing my right ovary and falopian tube as well. It helps so much to read stories from others going through the same! My evil side is trying really hard to come out today and I'm up a pant size since last week so yes, I'm an emotional wreck! I went to my pre-op consult today and all it set to go on Tues next week! I'm feeling good about having the surgery and need to knock off the what if's! They are getting me no where but crazy! LOL! I'm going to lunch tomorrow with the girls from work to "celebrate the loss of my uterus"! LOL! I think there just excited that maybe that evil girl that shows up for work every now and then may be disappearing! Thanks again to all of you --I sooooooooo love this site and hearing that were not alone in this craziness!! You girls are the best!

Re: Nervous, happy, and annoyed!

I call them my "comfy" pants! My husband just about cringes everytime I pull them out!!! But, after today and all the candy I've ate, I'm wondering is it the bloat or my chocolate addictions! I little of both I'm sure! I only wear the comfy pants on desperate days! The jeans keep me in check to insure I don't completely od on chocolate!

Re: Nervous, happy, and annoyed!

I was riding that razors edge today too. We got a newer copier at work yesterday. The guy came in to see how it was working. Boy did he pick the wrong day. I told him, oh you mean the one that has jammed 5 times already and says that the paper is low and takes 10 mins to read an Adobe doc? One of he teacher need me to printed something out and used the other printer in the other room while he was standing there. Than I asked how old the copier was. He said "a few months newer then the last one"...in my head I was lossing my nut. I had to get up and walk away. I wanted to cuse him out and than KNOCK HIM OUT. SWING!!! And two seconds. Score all that I was laughing nd joking w/ him and two others.
I told my program admin what he told me. She just shook her head. I told her im keeping a record of this and calling him w/ every issue we have with it. It still pi$$es me off when i think about. I asked the resorce officer if he'd shoot it for me. I love working in the school system.
Thank you and have a nice day. GRRRRRRR
