Just started bleeding

I have read lots of ladies have bleeding after surgery. For my first 2 days I had no bleeding at all. Today I spent a very brief time sitting with the kids outside ( 1 hr) tops. I was so tired and had lots of discomfort I headed straight back to bed. Gravity and I don't seem to like each other as when ever I get up I have preasure pain. Thinking its normal. Well tonight my bleeding started. Should I be concerned? Or is it normal to take a few days to start bleeding? When is the cut off of to much bleeding?

Re: Just started bleeding

I'm sorry to hear you are worried. I had a TAH on 4/24 so I am not sure if it is different for you. I was told that bleeding was fine and expected for a few weeks as long as it wasn't bright red, clotting or accompanied by a fever. I have had spotting on and off for two weeks. Just a light red to pale pinkish to brown color and the dr said it isn't a problem. Hope you feel better soon!

They say as long as it's no more than a pad an hour.

Re: Just started bleeding

It is normal to have some bleeding in the days after a hysterectomy. As mentioned by lilmis_minister, the general rule is that if you fill a pad in an hour, it's time to go to the doctor ASAP. Other things to watch out for are extreme pain and nausea with bleeding. I spotted and had different colored discharge off and on for about 5 weeks post surgery. It was worse at 3-4 weeks when my vaginal cuff stitches started dissolving. Many women also notice that when they are active or do certain activities like sitting for a while, they spot more. Usually that's a sign that your body is telling you to rest and take it a little easier. Hope this helps!

Thanks ladies,

Just such a crazy experience to wrap my mind around.
Thought I was one of the lucky ones to not have bleeding. So far it's not a pad and hour. Sure is red but not poring out.
Thanks for the tips. I wil contact my dr if things get out of control.
